厦门导游词Overview Of Xiamen TouristryAlso known as Egret Island and Garden on the Sea, Xiamen is one of the most livable cities in China. There are World Architecture Museum-Gulang Island, the beautiful Wanshi Botanical Garden, the mystical South Putuo Temple (or Nanputuo Temple), the historic spot of Hulishan Fortress, the Island Ring Road alongside the sea and Tongan Tianzhushan Forest Park. Xiamen Natural Reserve for Rare Marine SpeciesCovering 330.88 square kilometers of the sea area of Xiamen City, the country-level Xiamen Natural Reserve for Rare Marine Species is a major habitat for lancelets-Class B Wild Water Animals under Prior Protection of the State. Lancelet isa typical species between the invertebrate and the vertebrate and of great significance in the research of animal evolution and the teaching of zoology. Chinese white dolphins (Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins) Conservation AreaIt extends northward from No. 1 wharf-Songyu, 35 square kilometers of western sea area southward from Gaoji Seawall, and 20 square kilometers of sea area on the line of Zhongzhai, Wutong, Aotou and Liuwudian at the mouth of Tongan Bay, with a total area of about 55 square kilometers. Egrets Conservation Area It includes Dayu Island, Jiyu Island and their beach areas. It primarily protects the Ardeidae birds such as Chinese Egret, Reef Heron, Egret, Large Egret, Intermediate Egret, Black-crowned Night Heron, Chinese Pond Heron, Grey Heron, Cattle Egret etc and their natural living environment. Lancelets Conservation AreaWith a total area of 63 square kilometers, it includes four sea zones of Huangcuo, that from Nanxian to Shibaxian, Xiaodeng Island and Crocodile Island. 2. Xiamen Yuanlin Botanical GardenAs an AAAA-level national scenic zone and a major scenic resort of the country, it is located amid Wanshi Mountain at the southeast corner of the mainland of Xiamen City. It was firstly built in 1960 and covers an area of 4.93 square kilometers. Xiamen Yuanlin Botanical Garden is a country-level base for science education, a demonstration base for diversity of creatures under the State protection, and among the first authorized touristry units that combine travel with science education. By now, over 5300 kinds of （including specimens）ornamentals of the tropical zone and subtropical zone have been introduced and collected. A dozen or more special plant gardens such as Conifer Garden, Palm Island, Rosery Garden, Araucaria Lawn, Cactus World, Rain Forest World, and Hundred Flowers Hall etc. Among them, palmaceae plants, Cactus and fleshy plants, plants of araucaria family, Cycadaceae plants, vines etc have their advantages in the same field. Built against the mountain, the Botanical Garden is rich in cliff sculptures.3. Hulishan FortressAs a selected national cultural relic protection unit, it is situated at Hulishan Seacoast on the southern tip of Xiamen Island. It covers a total area of over 70 thousand square meters and over 47 thousand square meters of fortress, with appurtenant works of secret passages, ammunition depot, barracks, government official hall, watch hall on the peak, electricity power well, sewage system etc. The whole fortress is constructed in the form of half bunker and half wall, with a tint of European style and architectural style of Ming & Qing dynasties of China. The two Krupp cannons (only one in existence) of Hulishan Fortress manufactured by Krupp Arsenal Germany in 1893 were both priced at about 80 thousand taels of silver. 4. Hot Spring Theme Park of Sun Moon ValleyAs an AAAA-level national scenic zone, it is located in Dongfu Town, Haicang District, Xiamen City. There are over 100 natural open-air hot spring pools and 40-odd special kinds of hot springs. There are Distillate Spirits Spring, Claret Spring and Coffee Spring in rich flavor, skin-nourishing Milk Spring, Coconut Milk Spring and Lemon Spring，body-shaping & health-preserving Ginseng Spring, Ganoderma Lucidum Spring, Angelica Spring，stimulating Icy Spring and Hot Spring，romantic Rose Spring and Fog SpringWhat a unique atmosphere of springs for visitors! Besides，there are Wellspring Culture Area, Mingtan Island, Peacock Garden, Body-Shaping Garden, Moon-Clasping Spring, Nursery Garden, Swimming Pool etc. 5.South Putuo Temple Situated at the foot of Wulaofeng (Mountain of Five Old Men) in Downtown Xiamen, South Putuo Temple is famous in South Fujian or even throughout the country. It occupies a total area of 258 square kilometers and a construction area of 21,270 square meters. In the central axial line from south to north lie the Heavenly Kings Palace, the Mahavira Palace, the Great-Mercy Palace and the Buddhist Scriptures House. Two sides along the central axial line are the corridors, bell and drum towers, Merits & Virtues Building, Haihui Building, Puzhao Building, Taixu Library, lecture rooms of Buddhist Academy and Buddhist Recuperation House, etc. To the south of the Heavenly Kings Palace, there is a Free-aquatic-animal Pool, two Wanshou Pagodas, two pavilions and a lotus pond. And between the Free-aquatic-animal Pool and the lotus pond, there is a Seven-Buddha-Pagoda including the statues of Sakyamuni and Kasyapa. Wanshou Pagoda is eleven-storied typically in the style of South Asian Buddhist architecture. 6. The Scenic Resort of Gulang Island As an AAAA-level national scenic zone and a major scenic resort of the country, it is located at the southwest corner of Xiamen and faces Xiamen Island across the 500-meter-wide Egret River. Its surrounding sea area constitutes the main body of Xiamen Port, with Chinese white dolphins(Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins) Conservation Area, lancelets Conservation Area and Dayu Island Egrets Conservation Area nearby, and Kinmen Isles across the sea. Sunlight Rock, Shuzhuang Garden, Bright Moon Garden, Seabed World, Yu Park, Huangdao Road, Gulang Stone, Natural Bathing Beach, etc are main scenic spots on the island with an area of 1.87 square kilometers. Owing to historical causes，there are consulates of 13 countries such as Britain, USA etc, and churches, residence, foreign firms, schools and so on built one after another by missionaries and wealthy merchants from various countries. On the small island, buildings of differing styles of China and foreign countries are well integrated and well preserved up till now. So it got the name of World Architecture Museum. PancakeIt is madeofbamboo shoot, peas, bean sprout, shredded cooked egg, tou-kan, fish, shelled shrimp, diced meat, oyster and carrots，and attaching importance to flavor treating with flat stockfish and bakery shortening. When rolling the pancake，put on its surface some oily sea weed, fried shredded cooked egg, powdered “Gong Candy”，then smear some chili sauce or sweet sauce, mustard and Chinese parsley. It tastes crispy, delicate，sweet and mellow. And it is both palatable and nutritious. 2. Fried Thin Noodles Fry high-quality thin noodles in 70%-hot oil pan until they become red yellow, take them out and place them in a bowl, then de-oil them with boiled water and they are ready for use. Prepare some lean meat, winter bamboo shoot and black mushrooms as ingredients, chop them into shreds and fry them, then add some flat fish, leached shrimps, and Shao-hsing rice wine. After that, fry again the fried thin noodles together with the ingredients. Serve with barbeque sauce and red hot-pepper sauce as seasonings. 3. Oyster Pizza (Fried Oyster)As one of the most popular seafood of Xiamen, Oyster Pizza uses bead oyster- a top grade of oysters as the main raw material, which has white meat and black branchias with even meat granules. Then mix up with eggs, sweet potato flour and minced garlic, and fry them with an amount of lard in the pan until it becomes yellow and crispy. Serve with sweet spicy sauce that is unique to Xiamen, Chinese parsley etc as seasonings. It tastes aromatic, crispy, delicate and palatable. 4. Peanut CrispAs a well-known Chinese style cookie of Xiamen, it uses peanut kernels and granulated sugar as major raw materials. To make it, firstly stir-fry and de-coat the peanut kernels, mix with sugar and boil them, then ground them into crisp, roll and pull them in shape, and slice them to small pieces. To serve it, carefully open the wrapping paper, and slightly put the crisp in the mouth; it melts quickly with agreeable sweetness and the aroma lingering in the mouth. Peanut Crisp not only can be taken together with tea, but also can be the stuff of salty Kompia (a delicacy made with flour, baked in an oven and eaten either with or without meat) and other cookies. 5. Thin Noodles PasteIt is made of high-quality flour, and it is white and fine in texture. Importance is attached to paste instead of mess, while being thick instead of oily. And it melts in the mouth! The refreshing flavor of the Thin Noodles Paste mainly comes from the soup brewed with shelled shrimp, oyster, sea razor shell, mussel, oyster meat, razor shell potage，or fish and meat dices of false salmon, eel and other marine products that are fresh and delicious. Seasoned with fry minced onion, pepper powder，and served with oil sticks, it tastes richer, more palatable and refreshing in flavor. 6. Satay NoodlesFirstly mix up satay sauce with bone soup，boil on roaring fire，then keep it in slow boiling state，add some refined salt and monosodium glutamate, hence the satay soup is ready for use. Select golden yellow glistening oil noodles of South Fujian and heat them with green vegetables in boiled water, then take them out and place them in a bowl, drizzle the thick satay soup while they are still hot. A bowl of rich-flavored satay noodles have almost come to completion, except the final seasoning to suit different taste. 7. Tongan Wrapped Pork To make the wrapped pork, choose a chunk of hock that weighs 1.5-2.5 kilos, seasoned with dried oyster, black mushroom, lotus seeds, shrimp etc，then drizzle some soy sauce，wrap and braise in a gauze. After taking it out of the pot, serve with its fragrance overflowing, its color golden yellow and the pork still quavering. Take a piece of it into your mouth, it tastes sweet and smooth, fat but not greasy, and it is extremely tasty and refreshing. It is really a local cuisine of typical Xiamen flavor. 8. Pie It is a traditional food with a history of over a century. It can be divided into two kinds- sweet pie and salty pie. Sweet pie is baked with the stuffing of pea gravel added with lard and white sugar; while salty pie is made with the stuffing of diced meat added with lard and white sugar. It is carefully made with selected sound flour, lard and high-quality mung beans. The pie crust is crispy, fragrant and oily. And the crust of freshly made pie tastes icy cool, fresh and sweet. 9. Pork Paste with MushroomIt is made of 12 raw materials and auxiliary products such as fresh pork, high-quality bean, black mushroom chili, onion bulbs, and garlic. Characterized by its golden yellow color, refined paste, rich aroma, being palatable and nutritious, it is a rare and prized canned appetite food. 10. Fish Skin Peanut It is a China-famous finished product of peanut. It has got the name because its crust is mixed with flour and fish-skin glue. Celebrated for its thin crust, being crispy, smelling salty sweet, and fragrant, it is a popular foodstuff as well as a convenient supplementary snack for drinking tea or wine. Local Culture1. Mooncake Game During Mid-autumn Festival Besides enjoying the bright silver moon and eating moon cakes that are popular throughout the country，there is a mooncake game during mid-autumn festival in Xiamen Region. There are 63 moon cakes for each set, which implies that 7 times 9 is 63，for three and nine are lucky numbers in the civil society of China. For each set, there are one piece of Zhuang Yuan (Number One Scholar) mooncake with a diameter of 5 inches，two pieces of Duitang (this and all following names are of official titles of the feudal governments of ancient China, just like Number One Scholar) with a diameter of around 4 inches, three pieces of Sanhong with a diameter of two to three inches, eight pieces of Sijin with a diameter of a bit more than one inch, sixteen pieces of Erju with a diameter of nearly one inch, and thirty two pieces of Yixiu with a diameter of about half inch. They are respectively on behalf of the Number One Scholar of polite letters and that of Martial Arts, Bang Yan (the second name at the highest imperial exam), Tan Hua（the third named on the finals）, Jin Shi（a name for who passed the highest imperial exam）, Ju Ren（the title for that passed the imperial exam at the provincial level）, and Xiu CAI（the title for who passed the imperial exam at the county level）. With only six dice and one bowl, the means of mooncake games are very simple. Everybody takes turns to throw dice to see which kind of cakes they can get. He who throws six same dice will bag every moon cake on the table.2. Xiamen Gezai Opera Gezai Opera is a South Fujian dialect opera that was formed on the basis of Minnan Gezai, and absorbed the essence of Liyuan Opera, Beiguan Opera, Gaojia Opera, Beijing Opera, and Min Opera etc. It came into being on Taiwan Island in 20th century and is the only one of over 360 operas of China to come into existence in Taiwan. With hundreds of years of development, Seven-Syllable Rhyming was finally created. The creation of Seven-Syllable Rhyming symbolized the birth of Gezai Opera, which was later quickly spread to Xiamen and then all over South Fujian and S.E. Asia. The musical instruments are mainly four-stringed Kezai String, the Broad-String, Taiwan flute, Yu-kin etc. The performance, roles, costumes, theatrical masks and percussion are basically taken from Beijing Opera. Plays of Gezai Opera include The Butterfly Lovers, A Woman Called Chen Sanwu etc. Traffic ConditionsOverviewXiamen enjoys a convenient transportation. Located in the northeast Xiamen Island and 12 kilometers to the downtown, Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport boasts National Class B Trunk Line Airport. There have been 53 airlines of domestic service in existence and over 70 airlines reaching major ports of the world. The already built Xiamen Gaoji Sea Wall and Yingtan-Xiamen Railway that has been open to traffic are transportation arteries leading to the hinterland of China. Automobile transport not only goes directly to all regions within Fujian Province，but also to Wenzhou Zhejiang in the north, Hong Kong and Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Shantou etc of Guangdong. Passenger transport goes nonstop to Shanghai, Nanjing, Hefei, Fuzhou, Nanchang, Yingtan etc. Xiamen Port is open to navigation around the clock. The passenger liner from Xiamen to Hong Kong Jimei departs Xiamen Port at 17:00 every Wednesday, and returns from Hong Kong at about 8：30 AM on the same day. Besides from within the Province to coastal areas，the domestic service of Xiamen Port include those from Shantou, Guangzhou and Hainan Island in the south，to Dalian, Tianjin, Qingdao, Yantai, Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Shanghai in the north. Its overseas sea routes reach 167 countries and regions such as Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Pakistan, Turkey, Kuwait, Morocco etc. Xiamen HarborAs a key natural deepwater harbor at the southeast coast of China, Xiamen Harbor enjoys superior natural conditions. With islands of small and great Kinmen forming a natural barrier shield outside, it is wid
