Literature Spot 4 The Pearl教材：北师版英语 4 必修模块 适用年级：高一下学期一、 教学对象分析本校是省老一级达标学校，生源素质处于全市中上水平，属较好程度，总体而言，学生有较清晰的目标，学习较自觉主动。经过一学年的学习，学生已基本适应了高中英语的教学特点，掌握了部分高中英语阅读的技巧和策略，如预测内容、略读、精读等，并能在阅读中较熟练地使用这些策略，内化阅读信息。同时，学生处在青少年的黄金年龄期，具有强烈的好奇心和求知欲，渴望更多地了解他们所处的世界。然而，对于英语文学阅读，大部分学生却很少有这样的经历，尤其是对于典型英语国家的那些著名作家的经典文学作品，涉猎较少，这就决定了教师在教学过程中，需要让学生了解文学背景，把握文章脉络，理清故事情节并引导他们理解文本及所体现的价值意义和深刻内涵，从而培养他们的阅读兴趣和形成正确的人生观和价值观。二、 教材内容分析本课内容是北师版高中英语教科书模块四 Literature Spot部分，课型是小说阅读课。在北师版教材中，Literature Spot属于选用和泛读的性质，平时由于教学进度等因素的影响，教师往往忽略这部分内容，只是让学生自己抽时间阅读。然而，课标在七级目标中指出“（学生）能读懂供高中学生阅读的英文原著简写本”；在八级目标中又说 “（学生）能在教师的帮助下欣赏浅显的英语文学作品”；随着福建省高考英语阅读理解逐年对文学作品的阅读的重视，以及近两年厦门市教育局对中小学阅读的重视，教材中这部分内容也相应变得愈发重要。本课内容是John Steinbeck 的小说 The Pearl的节选，讲述了一个叫Kino的采珠人的儿子Coyotito被蝎子蛰伤，为了给儿子治疗，Kino下海采珠，结果找到了全世界极为罕见的一颗大珍珠，Kino对未来的美好生活充满了期待。然而，为了得到这颗大珍珠，镇上贪婪的人们纷纷登场，使出了浑身解数，Kino全家倍受伤害。为了摆脱这些人，Kino决定带领全家逃离小镇。不料，他们竟被残忍追杀，茅草窝被烧，赖以生存的小船被毁，儿子被击中身亡。最终，Kino将那颗使他家破人亡的大珍珠扔回了大海。文章情节跌宕起伏，词汇难度适中，故事寓意深刻。充分体现了It is upon bad fortune that good fortune leans; it is upon good fortune that bad fortune rests.（祸兮福所倚，福兮祸所伏）的思想。三、 教学目标（1） 通过浏览、查读和细读等阅读技巧读懂小说故事情节，理清人物关系。（2） 通过比较，小组讨论等方式，理解小说的深刻寓意：It is upon bad fortune that good fortune leans ; it is upon good fortune that bad fortune rests.（祸兮福所倚， 福兮祸所伏）。（3） 按照故事发生的时间顺序，复述故事，完成语言输出任务。（4） 通过该篇小说的阅读，提升对外国文学作品的阅读兴趣及欣赏能力。（5） 学会包容阅读材料中不影响理解的生词，并形成敢于阅读篇幅长生词多的文章的心理素质。四、 教学过程 Step 1 Warm-up and lead-in (5)1. 自由交谈教师先问学生几个问题，了解学生对于美国文学及作家的熟悉程度（同时，教师在屏幕上展示Ernest Hemingway及其主要作品如：A Farewell to Arms，The Old Man and the Sea等；John Steinbeck及其主要作品，如：The Grapes of Wrath, The Moon is Down等）。T: Hello, class. Do you enjoy reading? S: Yes.T: Would you like to share something about reading with me?1 Who is this man and where is he from? (Ernest Hemingway; the USA)2 Have you read any novels written by Hemingway? Which do you like best? What does that mean? Suppose one day, you got the biggest pearl in the world, then what would become of you? In the story our hero gets one of the biggest pearls in the world, can you guess what happens to him and his family?意图说明 通常一个人发了大财后都会过上富有的生活，通过让学生假设自己的生活及预测故事的结局，能够更充分地调动学生好奇心及阅读的兴趣，也为学生克服阅读中的生词打下一定基础。Step 2 While-reading (30)1.
