Knowledge objectives(1) Students will be able to understand the main idea and some details of the story.(2) Students will be able to say something about the story.2.Ability objectives(1)Students will be able to use reading methods such as skimming,scanning and careful reading the story.(2)Students can improve the abilities of reading.3.Emotional objectiveStudents can get more interested in reading English stories.We should always be nice to each other.Teaching Key and Difficult Points:Students can retell the story.Teaching Procedures:Step 1 Warming up and lead-in(5 minutes)1. Greeting.2. Lead in the story by playing a video and ask students:(1) When is the story happens?(2) What is Robin going to do?Step 2 Pre-reading(5minutes)Play the video about “Robin and the Ant”.While enjoying the video,students think over the following question: “How many people are there in the story?”Step 3 While-reading(15minutes)1. Fast readingAsk students to read the story quickly and then conclude the main idea of each paragraph.Paragraph 1-introduction:When is the story happens?Paragraph 2-How does the little ant feel?Paragraph 3-How does Robin do?Paragraph 4-Why is the Robin worried?Paragraph 5-What did Robin hear?Paragraph 6-What did the little ant and all of his friends say?Paragraph 7-How does everyone feel at the end?Justification:Train the students reading ability of scanning for the general information of the story. 2. Careful readingAsk the students to read the story carefully and fill in the blanks:The ant is .Robin is stuck and .The ants are strong.They .Now everyone .3. Listening practicePlay the tape and ask students to read the story after the tape and pay attention to the pronunciations of the words and sentences.Justification:In this part,the teacher uses the task-based teaching method to arouse the enthusiasm of students and to train their analyzing and summarizing ability.In the process of answering the questions, students reading skills for the detailed information are improved and it will help students understand the story logically.The listening practice helps students consolidate their understanding of the story.Step 4 Post-reading(10minutes)Get students retell the story according to the outline on PPT.Outline of the story:It is a sunny . Robin is .It is a little . He is .”Dont worry, . .”The next day, it is .Robin is .Then he hears, .They are strong. .Everyone .Justification:The activity of retelling the story carried out under certain situation can activate the atmosphere of the class and arouse students interest at the same time.It helps students strengthen what they have learned during this lesson.Step 5 Summary and Homework (5minutes)Summary:Ask one students to act as an assistant teacher to guide others to summarize what they have learned in this lesson.What does the story tell us?A. We should always be nice to each other.B. We shouldnt hurt ants.Homework:(1) Listen to the tape and read the story aloud.(2) Write a short passage about the story.Justification: Homework is so important and necessary for students to master the knowledge they have learned in class.It will check whether the students achieve the teaching aims.Blackboard Design:Unit 6 H
