Today I will show you around a well-known garden in China,Zhuozheng Garden. It is one of the top four classical gardens in China and was listed in the first batch of important historical sites under state protection. It is a masterpiece that represents the classical private gardens in China. Zhuozheng Garden was built in the Ming Dynasty. The Assiatant Prime Minister Wang Xiancheng suffered setbacks in his official career,resigned and returned to his hometown,where he started the construction of the garden on the site of Da Hong Temple. He named the garden Zhuozheng to express his yearning to withdraw from the politics and retire close to the rural nature like Tao Yuanming,an ancient poet. Zhuozheng Garden is famous for two reasons. First,it is a pearl of Chinas national cultural heritage and a masterpiece of clssical gardens in South China. Second,it was a place where celrbrities of great influence in China gathered.This lacquer painting in front of us presents the panoramoa of Zhuozheng Garden. It can be seen from the picture that Zhuozheng Garden doesnt have a clear-cut axis line and a trraditional symmetric layout. In fact,in order to keep its natural essence,it was built by adapting to local topography,which serves as the most successful model in Suzhous gardens. When we enter the garden,we see another feature in Suzhou garden design,the intriguing camouflage view. Look,the fake rocks were built up like a huge screen that blocks our view. In this way,the misteriousness of the garden is deepened.Now we are at the Lotus Pavilian,which lies in the easterm part of the garden. We are about to see another feature in garden design,the frame view. If you look closer,you will find that the door frame that leads out to the river was equipped with a down-to-ground rectangular screen. When you open the frame,you feel like you are coming to a serene paradise with zigzagging rivers and blossoming flowers. In this way,the garden sesigner intended to direct the visitors attention to the best part of the scene.We will spend half an hour in the eastern part of the garden.
