Teaching aims and demands: 1. Knowledge objects:Key vocabulary : rubbish, take out the rubbish, fold, sweep ,floor ,messTarget language: -Could you please sweep the floor?- Yes, sure.-Sorry, Im going to clean the living room. -Could I use your computer?-Sorry ,Im going to work on it now.Structure: Could for polite requests. Could for permission. 2. Ability objects: Enable Ss to make polite requests and ask for permission.To improve studentslistening and speaking skills. To improve studentscommunicative competence.3. Moral objects: Let Ss know that its always right to be polite.Chores are part of fun in life.Teaching key points: The phrases of doing chores.Learn how to make polite requests and ask for permission.Train Ss ability of listening and speaking. .Teaching difficult points: The phrases of doing chores.Learn and master how to make polite requests.The usage of modal verb “could” .Teaching methods: Task-based language teaching method. Pair work Listening, etc.Teaching aids:PPT, Bb.Teaching procedures: Step 1 Greetings! Greet the class. Step 2 Lead-in Say, “Last week, Hu Yuqin showed me around your dormitories(show students the photo) , I found your dormitories are so clean and tidy .You are all so excellent not only in your study but also in daily life. Now I want to show you two photos of my daughter room. You know I have a daughter, she has her own bedroom ,” Show the second photo ,later, the first one .Students compare them. “When I ask my daughter to do some chores , she often says: What chores? I dont know! ” You see, my daughter doesnt like chores . What about you? Do you do chores at home? Well, before you answer my question , lets learn some chores first.Step 3 Presentation (1a) Show the pictures of chores. Read the chores and students repeat. Then have a memory test: show the chores and students say the names. After that. Ask student: Do you do these chores at home? Invite Ss to introduce the chores they do at home. (Dont forget to encourage or praise students .) Step 4 Listening (1b) Now I know you do lots of chores at home. You do help parents a lot .But what about Peter?(Show the picture ,see who is Peter?) Who will do the chores at his home, Peter or Peters mother ? Now lets listen to a conversation between Peter and Peters mother .After that, check the answers.Step 5 Oral practice (1c) Present two questions, Ss try to compare: Take out the rubbish ! Could you please take out the rubbish?Which one is more polite? Lead Ss to learn how to make polite requests. Then work in pairs to make conversations using “ Could you please?”and give responses. Have several pairs present their conversation to the class.Step 7 Listening (2a,2b) Say, Just now ,we heard a conversation between Peter and Peters mother ,and now we are going to hear a conversation between Peter and Peters father. This time Peter asks his father if he can do four things. What does his father say? Lets listen to the tape and find out the answers .Play the recording, students finish 2a and 2b.Check the answers by listening again or asking Ss.Step 8 Oral practice (2c)Make a summary about how to ask for permission: Could I? and its answers. Show 2c, have 2 Ss read it as an example. Explain “work on”. Students work in pairs to practice the conversation between Peter and Peters father. Have several Ss present their conversations to the class.Step 9 Role-play (2d)Say, We use “Could you please?”to make polite requests and “Could I?”to ask for permission. Next, letsee 2d.Ss read 2d, pay more attention to the colorful words .Role play the conversation ,later ,show some language points on the screen. Step 8 Summary Briefly summarize the chores and the structures we learnt in this class.Love our parents, help do chores.Step 9 HomeworkListallthemainphrasesofdoingchoresBb design: U
