It has a very close relationship with the Ss daily life. The teaching syllabus requires students to learn how to describe outdoor activities and the history of kites . It focuses on developing students listening skills. To my understanding, some parts in the textbook needs adaptations to better suit students needs and teaching objectives. For example, a lead-in activity is needed to arouse the students interest. Whats more, the very useful listening strategy of predicted should be introduced before.Analysis on learners1) Learning BackgroundMy Ss are the ones of Grade One at approximately Level 3 in National Curriculum Standard. 2) Learners Affective FactorsMost students in my class are interested in English learning. However, some of are afraid of speaking English in class.3) Learning StyleSome of them dont have good listening and speaking habits. But at the same time, the Ss of this age are quick in thought and they are eager to show what they know, so they would like to take part in some interesting activities in class and get some help from their classmates and teachers.Teaching objectivesKnowledge objective: To know some useful expressions to talk about outdoor activities.Remember to take Its dangerous to Everything is ready. Shall we go?Ability objective: 1) To be able to use the expressions in daily life.2) To get some information from the listening text. (to know the history of kites)Emotional objective: 1) To arouse the awareness of protecting the environment.2) To be proud of Chinese history and great inventions.Teaching strategiesThe modern teaching demands the teachers should improve the Ss ability. In this class I will try my best to develop their listening skills. During the speaking part, Ill mainly use communicative approach. That is to say, Ill let the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue. I also adopt TBLT (Task-based Language Teaching) method in my teaching. Talk about the weather and the season.Ask the students what outdoor activities they would like to try?2) Present many outdoor activities on PPT and tell the students to try all kinds of outdoor activities if they are free. 3)Show another picture with two excited children.Talk about outdoor activities they would like to try in their free time.Get to know many kinds of outdoor activities.Encourage them to guess: Why are they so excited?The purpose is to arouse the students interest towards further learning and bring to mind the background knowledge about the topic of outdoor activities. So students curiosity and eagerness can easily be activated.Step 2 Listening(Part A1)31) Pre - listeningShow a picture with many kites flying in the sky. Ask the students: what do they look like?2) While listeningPlay the tape for the students.3) Post - listeningCheck the answers. Pair work: A: What does it look like?B: It looks like They listen to the tape and write the correct names under the kites. Answer the questions using a complete sentence like: Simons kite looks like a plane. The purpose is to help students establish listening expectations. They can get some ideas of what they are going to hear. And also it can activate students prior knowledge about the topic. It will be easier when they try to understand the speakers message.The purpose is to practice speaking English.Step 3 Listening(Part A2)71) Pre- listeninga. Talk about the city which is famous for kites.b. Talk about the materials to make kites.c. Talk about four famous persons related to kites.2) While listening 3) Post - listeningAsk the students to remember the information in Part A2. Know something about the kites.Listen to the tape and match each person with the correct eventThe purpose is to provide the students with the explanations of some new words and relevant knowledge in advance. It can help them solve potential language or knowledge problems. Meanwhile I can reinforce their pronunciation: Italy, Italian, province and ect.This part is to develop the strategy of listening for gist. It demands general comprehension of the text.Step 4 Listening (Part A3)151) Pre- listeninga. Provide two listening skills. Help the students to fill in some blanks.b. Ask them to guess the rest information. 2) While listeningPlay the tape.3) Post- listeninga. Check the answers.b. Fill in the form.c. Encourage the students to be guides in the kite museum. 1) Fill in the blanks with the information they have known.2) Predict before listening.3) Listen to the tape and complete the passage.4) Read the passage by themselves.5) Fill in the form6) To say something about the kite.This part is to develop the strategy of listening for Specific information.The purpose is to engage students in some kinds of speaking activities to consolidate what has been learnt by the students.Step5Speak up51) Play the tape.2) Ask them to read in pairs.3) Fill in some information.1) Listen to the dialogue first.2) Answer two questions. 3) Read in pairs aloud and look for more details.The purpose is to reinforce their pronunciation and to get the Ss to solve the problems through their autonomous learning Step 6 Production 51) Ask Ss to discuss: If they plan a day out to Wanshan Park, what should they take, what they can do and what they cant do.2) Ss work in pairs and make dialogues.3) Role play.4) Evaluation1) Discuss in two groups: boys & girls2) Make dialogues and act it out.The purpose is to get students to make a real situational dialogue.
