The topic of this unit is to talk about what you are allowed. This unit is aimed at should + be allowed to. Its close to our daily life. The class is the third period of this unit, it is important to make good use of Passive Voice after the pre-learning. All the activities are helpful to raise Ss learning interests. And these activities can give Ss listening, reading and writing practice. At the same time, Id like the Ss to set up a consciousness of “loving their families” through my teaching. Its the basic for the students to learn the other contents of this unit. So its very important to learn this lesson well.Analysis of learnersThe students have learnt Passive Voice in Unit 5 and 6 and they know how to use the Passive Voice well. As we know, the students were interested in the topic about rules and families. So they will do well in this class.Teaching objectives1.Knowledge objective: Key words &phrases: tiny, cry, field, give a hug, liftup, badly, talk back, awful, teen, regret, poem, stay by side, keep from dangerKey structure: should be allowed to, regret doing sth2.Ability objective:Students can use the new words and the structure “should be allowed to”to talk about the rules. 3. Moral objectives:Understand the importance of advice given by their teachers and parents. Love their families.Key pointsandDifficult points1. Learn the Passive Voice with modal verbs.2. Master the target language.Teaching methodsAs we know: the main purpose of learning English in Middle School is to cultivatestudents abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of the English language. Talk about the word “family” with some students.T= Teacher, S= StudentT: Do you know what the word “family” means?S1: It means .设计意图:通过轻松愉快的话题消除学生的紧张心理,教师与学生谈论family这个词的含义,为接下来教学活动的开展做好铺垫。本环节采用了谈话式的教学方法。Step Pro-task(Lead-in)(5 mins)1. Tell students that they are going to watch a video about “family”, after finishing watching it, they should know the new meaning of the word “family”.2. Check the new meaning of the word “family”=father and mother I love you. Then tell the students: We should love our parents. Our parents should be loved by us. Ask students to repeat these sentences and review the Passive Voice.3. Key vocabulary learning. Students work in pairs to learn the new words. Moving around the classroom and offering necessary help. Play the recording of the poem. Ask the students to listen and find out what the poem is about. 2. Ask a few students to present their opinions to the class.Task 2: Skimming1. Ask students to read the passage quickly by themselves.2. When they have finished, ask students to write T for true and F for false. Task 3 : Careful Reading1. Students work in groups to finish activity 3b.2. Check their answers by asking and answering.Task 4: Poem Completing1. Show the poem again. Finish the poem with the students together.2. Pay special attention to the words missing. Give students more explanations if necessary. Teacher reads the poem beautifully and asks students to read their favorite part of the poem in groups. After finishing, students present their work.2. Students watch a short video and write down three or five sentences that they want to say to their mothers. Call some students to share their words.3. As students work together, move around the room offering language assistance as needed.4. After that, tell the class that mothers love is the best in the world. Standing by her chair, looking at the ink bottle, pens, and white paper, I decided that the act of writing must be the more wonderful thing in the world. Years later, during her final illness, mother kept different things for my sister and brother. “But the desk,” shed said again, “its for Elizabeth. ” I never saw her angry, never saw her cry. I knew she loved me; she showed it in action. But as a young girl, I wanted heart-to-heart talks between mother and daughter. They never happened. And a gulf opened between us. I was “too emotional(易动感情的)”. But she lived “on the surface(表面)”. As years passed I had my own family. I loved my mother and thanked her for our happy family. I wrote to her in careful words and asked her to let me know in any way she chose that she did forgive(原谅) me. I posted the letter and waited for her answer. None came. My hope turned to disappointment(失望), then little interest and, finally, peace it seemed that nothing happened. I couldnt be sure that the letter had even got to mother. I only knew that I had written it, and I could stop trying to make her into someone she was not. Now the present of her desk told, as shed never been able to, that she was pleased that writing was my chosen work. I cleaned the desk carefully and found some papers inside a photo of my father and a one-page letter, folded(折叠) and refolded many times. Give me an answer, my letter asks, in any way you choose.
