Play an English song called “ Are yousleeping?” Sing along with it if they can.3. After listening to the song, lead in byasking “ Are you sleeping?” and “What are you doing now?” ( Help students to answer “We are having an English class now.)Its more interesting to start the class by enjoying anice Englishsong.Step 2. Revision and leading-in.1. T: We are having an English class. Now look at the pictures on the screen and find out what they aredoing.2. The teacher acts and students report them.Review some key words and phrasesStep 3. Listening practice (2a and 2b)1. T: Steve and Jack are talking on the phone, lets listen carefully and tell what they are doing.2. Play the recording, students match the questions with the answers.3. Check the answers.4. Play it again and lead them to fill in theblanks in 2b.Ask a student to come to the blackboard and fill in the blanks.5. Check the answers.6. Point out “go to the movies”.Improve their listening skillsStep 4. Pair work (2c and 2d)1. Ask two students to read the dialogue in 2b.2. Encourage some pairs to present their conversation.Students can make their own conversation with their partner and they can use the new knowledge.Step 5. Play a game1. Divide the whole class into 4 groups. Each group is a team.2. T: Ill show you some photos; you should guess what they are doing.Finally, we will decide which group isthe best.3. For the first picture, help students say “Is he watching TV?”By doing this game, they may master the present progressiveand the structures “Is he/ she v-ing”or “Are they v-ing?Step 6.
