绵阳市平武县平通初中 刘成Unit5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came?Section B(2a-2d) 阅读课一.教学目标:1.知识与技能:(1)知识目标:熟练掌握词汇passage,pupil,completely,shocked,silence, recently,terrorist , date,tower,truth,in silence,take down.进一步使用过去进行时谈论过去某时正在发生的事情。(2)技能目标:通过阅读训练,使学生重点掌握阅读策略:Reading the title and the first sentences,提高学生的阅读能力。 2.过程与方法:采用任务型教学法,以小组合作的方式完成2a-2e教学任务。在充分运用“自主、合作、探究”的学习方式中,用“思维导图教学法”培养学生在阅读中获取信息、处理信息和运用信息的能力。 3.情感态度与价值观:通过对阅读文章的学习,使学生了解美国民权运动领袖Dr. Martin Luther King被杀及震惊世界的9.11恐怖袭击事件。进而激起学生对政治领袖大无畏精神的崇敬和对恐怖分子的憎恨之情。二.教学重难点:1.教学重点:结合阅读文章进一步理解过去进行时的表意功能; 使学生掌握阅读策略:Reading the Title and First Sentences.2.教学难点:文章中较难复合句的理解。三.教法与学法:1.教学方法:任务型教学法。根据教材设计的activities 2b-2e,引导学生“在做中学,学中做”完成这些任务。“思维导图”教学法。在这节课中,以两件大事为主线,运用“思维导图”辅助英语阅读教学,从“导入阅读复述对话”,由浅入深,使学生逐渐掌握文章的思想内容和语言知识点,又培养了学生的思维能力。2.学习方法:自主探究、小组合作和分组竞争。四.教学准备:1.教师准备:PPT课件、MP3录音、学生使用资料;2.学生准备:让学生上网查阅有关Dr. Martin Luther King和“9.11事件”。五.教学过程:Step 1:Warming up and leading in Boys and girls, there are some important events happening in the world every day.Please look at the two pictures on page 38.Meanwhile lets look at the title( Write the title on the blackboard).What do you think the passage is about ?(Let the students predict the main content of the text.)All right, I think the passage is about the great events in history and what people were doing when the two events happened.Step 2: PresentationPart 1 Teaching the reading strategy: Reading the title and first sentences.Part 2 Let the students read the passage fast and answer the following questions: What are the two events in the passage?When did they happen?Part3 Lead the students to understand the passage carefully.1.Play the recording for the students.2.Lead the students to analyse the passage and finish the mind-map.(1)Ask the students to devide the passage into two parts according to the two events.(2)Ask the students to answer the questions according to the first part.Questions: Whats the main idea of this passage?(Find the key sentence of the first paragraph.)Where was Dr. King from? Do you know him?How old is Robert Allen now? What was he at that time?What was he doing when Dr.King was killed? How did his parents feel?(3)Ask the students to answer the questions according to the second part.Questions :When was the World Trade Center in New York take down? And who was it taken down by?What was Kate Smith doing when the World Trade Center was taken down ? What did her friend do?What did Kate Smith realize finally? How did she feel?(4)Lead the students to make the mind-map according to the analyses above.3. Lead the students to undersatand the difficult sentences.Although some people may not remember who killed him, they remember what they were doing when they heard the news?We were eating dinner in the kitchen when we heard the news on the radio.More recently, most Americans remember what they were doing when the World Trade Center in New York was taken down by terrorists.I was so scared that I could hardly think clearly after that.4. Ask the students to finish the exercises.Let the students finish Activity 2c.A. Everyone in America remembers who killed Dr. King.B. Robert Allen was eating lunch when Dr.King was killed.C. Roberts parents were shocked to hear the news. D. Kate Smith was watching a movie when a plane hit the World Trade Center?E. Kate didnt think her friend was telling the truth about the event.Ask the students to finish Activity 2d.A. Not everyone will remember who killed him, but they can remember what they were doing when they heard that he got killed.B. No one said anything for the rest of dinner.C. September 11, 2001- the date alone means something to most people in the US.D. I had trouble thinking clearly after that because I was very afraid.Step 3.RetellingFirst ask the students to retell the passage according to the mind-map in a group, then let five students to retell the passage.Step 4 Summing up 1.Ask the students to use the strategy(Reading the title and first sentences in each paragraph)and the mind-map to understand the passage.2.Ask the students to sum up the language points and the sentence structures weve learned.Step 6: HomeworkMake a mind-map about the article The storm brought people closer together.参考文献:蔡文.思维导
