Teach the new words in this period. 2.Revise the sentence pattern learnt in last class. What were you doing at the time of? I was.Step 2: Presentation 1. Teach activity 2d (1) Let students read 2d and answer questions according to it:1.What was Linda doing at seven last night? At eight? At nine? 2. Why did Mary call Linda so many times?3. How did Mary work out her problem?(2)deal with the language points in the passage. (3) Read the passage together. (4) Choose some pairs to act out. 2. Grammar: (1)Ask students to observe the sentences in Grammar Focus and summarize the usages of “was/were doing ” in groups. (2) summarize the usage of past continous tense in different sentence structures (3)summarize the difference between the past continous tense and present continous tense. (3)summarize the difference between when and while.Step 3: Practice 1. Teach activity 4a (1) Ask students to finish 4a by themthelves. (2) As they are working, move around and check the progress. (3) Invite one student to read hisher answers. (4) Check the correct answers with the whole class. (5) Ask students to work with their partners.
