After read this story, we know this story is a love tragedy. Love and hate is one of the conflicts in Wuthering Heights. Hate can not make the love disappear. Love is stronger than hate. After that Heathcliff with owners daughter, Catherine, had good emotions with each other. But after the old owners death, his son, Hindley maltreated Hethcliff in every possible way and even treated him as a servant. But Catherine continued her close relationship with him, which released him from his suffer a little. However, after Catherine meeting Edgar Linton, Catherine felt it would be a shamed for her to marry Heathcliff. When Heathcliff heared this news, he disappeared for many years. After that Catherine got badly ill and later married Edgar. Just shortly after their marriage, Heathcliff returned with surprisingly good manners and a lot of money. At the same time, he decided to revenge. Catherine, torn between her lover and husband, became very ill and eventually died when her child was born. Though Heathcliff cruelly revenged to the tow families, he got no happiness at all. At last, he died of starvation and went with Catherines soul together on the moors. The novel Wuthering Heights are full of love and hatred which are both conflicted and combined. In the following passage we will learn the story together through analyzing the different kinds of love and the hatred.1The love of Heathcliff1. 1 His pure loveI think, Heathcliffs love is pure. When he was a little child, he played with Catherine. Because he was an orphan, he has never been accepted by other middle class except for the old Earnshaw and Catheria. With the time elapse, Heathcliff and Catherine fall in love with each other. Heathcliff loves her very much, and this love drives him to life. He thinks nothing is more important than Catherine. Thus, he gives his first horse, a present from old Earnshaw, to Catherine. Whats more, Heathcliff comes to terms with Hindlys maltreat, For example: Living in the barn, burdened with labor and suffered the Hindlys humiliate and hits. He endures these behaviors, because Catherine is in Wuthering Heights. Alought, he suffered a lot of misery, he didnt leave this place just for the Catherine. So, from this information, we know the Heathcliffs love is very pure at the beginning. For Heathcliff, Catherine is sole consolation and hope in his lonely and strenuous life that supports his whole world and contains his spirit and emotion entirely.2. The hatred of HeathcliffBut after Catherine betray him. So, he changed himself, his love becomes the best tool for Heathcliff to revenge on Catherine.He begin to cruel punishment or treatment to anyone who has relationship with Catherine or anyone he hates. So his purpose of returning to Wuthering Heights is to begin his ravage and non-human revenge, especial after Catherines death. His endless hate just results from his hopeless love. From the Heathcliff we know the love and hate are mixed together on him. 2.1 His revenge Three years later, Heathcliff returns Wuthing Heights when Cathrine and Linton get married. After that, he put his first step about revenge: to lure Isabella, the young sister of Linton, and he wanted to marry her. During the three years, he has earned a lot of money and he became a gentleman. Because of these reasons, Isabella likes him very much. Thus, Heathcliff easily gains Isebella. From that Isabellas blind act made herself to be another sacrifice of marriage.As to Heathcliff, everything was in a smooth way. He became more crul and cold than before. Beside that, he even deprived Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange little by little by mean ways. Catherines death aggravated Heathcliffs revenge, and he also wanted to die. The more deeply he loved, the more deeply he revenged. So, he always revenge to others until he died. He maltreat Hindleys son as Hindley treat him, when he was young. Young Cathys growing up only made him memorize his past experiences. He hated the Catherine married Linton, hated their children. So, he plotted a trick to make their children to marry his son. So, another marriage tragedy was made by Heathcliff. 2.2 The results of his revengeThe results of his revenge are: he gets Hindley into his clutches and finally drive him to drink himself to death. Edgar dies of grief. He also torments Isabella to death; in addition, Catherine dies without his forgiveness. Heathcliffs son Linton dies too. Heathcliff is in full possession of the properties of both Wuthering Heights and thrushcross Grange, however, his revenge let him live alone. Just as he says to Nelly: “my mind is so eternally secluded in itself; it is tempting at last to turn it out to another.” （Bronte,2004） From these we can see: he is losing connect with the society, and he has no man to listen to him. In fact, his revenge is ridiculous. Conclusion Love is the ever-lasting theme in humans society. We can not image how the world will become if there is no love in this world. Love is the most important emotions for human beings. But hate is the bad attitude to our life. It is a twisted humanity. Sometimes we may full of hate when we in trouble, But I want to say: “hate is a negate attitude, we should not cover our eyes by it”. To love and to be love is humans happiness and basic right, which cant be emplaced by hatred. Wuthering Heights is generally considered one of the most original works. At the same time, Heathcliffs love and hate also give us a deep impression. Wuthering Heights is not just a sentiment romance novel. It is a presentation of life, an essay on love, hate, revenge, the entanglement of love and hate, and a glimpse at relationships. After reading this novel, I know the Hindleys love and hate.
