mm, yes? right, thats true, no, yeah, i know”.t: so when we are talking, we should pay attention to our intonation to show our interest in others. then lets talk back to holiday. you have won a holiday. in pairs, choose which one to go on together. first, look at stage 1. use these key words to help you. you choose one you want to go on and one you dont want to and state your reasons.after students finish this task and write down on their notebook, let them follow stage 2 to prepare what they are going to say. at last, let students use speaking strategies to talk to each other about the holidays.sample dialogue:a: id like to go on the trip to turkey.b: really?a: yes, id like to explore mountains, dive and see ruins.b: mmm. but its very tiring. and i dont like diving for i think its always dangerous. id prefer to go on the trip of the usa. its comfortable and well-organized. there are many activities which im interested in.t: you have done well. if i could choose holidays, id like to go snowboarding. snowboarding is the hottest snow sport today. it is fun to snowboard on exciting and challenging slopes. because it is fast, thrilling and challenging, snowboarding is particularly popular with teens and youths. but i dont want to go on beijing trip, for i have been to beijing twice and its boring. i like nature more than a city.ask students to do pair work after class for the shortage of time and let students find out which are the most popular and least popular holidays.step iii writingt: in the first period, we learned about a brochure. now can you tell me what a brochure is?ss: yes, it means a small book or material that introduces something.t: ok. now you look at the camp xtreme brochure. read the camp xtreme brochure and match the paragraphs (1-3) with the headings (a-c).t: you go through the brochure and elicit examples of brochure writing styles.s1: my example for a is the best adventure holiday youll ever have. example for b is at camp xtreme, well take you hiking across the island. example for c is call us today on 0235 776342 or e-mail us at .sc. example for d is that the author divides the text into three parts.t: good. can you tell me what similar expressions the author uses in chinese when writing a brochure? s2: we use 摆事实,列数据,下定义等.t: ok. after we look at the brochure, lets try to write a brochure for an adventure camp. you can follow the stages. look at stage 1; you should first elicit information of an adventure camp. for this step, you make notes by answering questions listed in the book. then you plan your paragraphs. my advice is that you choose four paragraphs. next, you write your brochure and check it. later, ill ask someone to read out your brochure. give students several minutes to go through each stage, making notes before they write their brochure in stage 3. if necessary, let students work in pairs rather than individually. several minutes later, check the writing. remind students to pay attention to the brochure style, the language and the beginning of sentences. time permitting, let students work in groups reading each others brochures. encourage them to help each other correct mistakes. a sample of writing:family campthe best adventure holiday youll ever have!family camp is located on a spacious 42 acres at 7,500 feet elevation on lake homavalo. the lodge was rated as one of the top ten family camp resorts in the country by travel smart newsletter, and offers families and groups an all-inclusive experience in a friendly, low-key environment.we offers 35 guided family camp activities in the summer and 20 in winter for all ages. rekindling a “love for learning” with guided hikes with local naturalists, an astronomy program, seven different summer horse riding programs, and an adventurous cross country ski resort in the winter. with “free choice” activities, parents are welcome to join in with the kids while they ride horses, swim, snowboard or learn about the forest habitat; or learn to rock climb. parents can also choose to get a massage, relax in the hot tub orwarm up by the fireplace after a day of skiing. guests often remark how they “completely forget their cares and worries” when they visit montecito sequoia lodge. the lodge offers 36 lodge rooms & 13 cabins catered to the needs of families. the spacious rooms sleep anywhere from a couple to an entire cabin sleeping up to 8 people. montecitos pride is in the educational activities, but remembered for our friendly staff & our delicious buffet meals.family camp is the best place to have your family adventure.
