INSTALLATION OF BEARINGSPREFACEYC450-3 traveling blocks are one of the hoisting equipment of drilling rig. They are thetraveling system of drilling rig. During normal drilling operations, they are mainly used for suspending the drill stem.YC450-3 traveling blocks are available for use with hooks that meet API specifications (or equivalent).The instruction gives a detailed description of technical specifications, structure,operation and service for traveling blocks in order that customers understand them thoroughly. Proper application of it may extend the service life, ensure the safety & reliability, and improve the production efficiency.The company provides parts drawing list for customers. When ordering the spare parts, customers shall write the number of drawing & denomination of parts to be required. Aserial number is assigned to each block. Customers shall mention the model & serial number of traveling blocks when ordering spare parts or making inquiries.The company has the right to change the model and design of traveling blocks at any time without notice and without incurring any obligation.The company recommends customers to use the replaceable parts made by us.Appling parts not made by us may reduce the performance of products. Weight 8379Kg2.STRUCTURE YC450-3 traveling blocks are designed and manufactured according to API Spec. 8A.They are composed of the hood(1),sheaves(7),shaft of sheaves(13),left plate assembly(26),right plate assembly(8)and lower lifting bail(22). The sheaves are supported on the shafts with double-row conical-roller bearings.Each bearing has its own lubrication channel and can individually lubricate with grease fittings(12) located at the ends of the shafts.Dust seals at the ends of bearing are riveted on the sheaves hub(Fig 2). The sheave grooves are machined as per API 8ASpec and the surfaces of the grooves are heat theated to minimize wearing. The upper part of plate assemblies is connected with thehood by screw(3).The lower lifting bail(22)is fastened on the lower parts of left plate assemblies by two pins(23). The end of pin is fixed with slotted nuts and cotter pins.When picking off the hool,either of pins can also be removesd.3.OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE Prior to using the traveling block or during operation,often check the parts for normal.If any trouble occurs,eliminate immediately. Prior to use,fill all bearings with grease and the bearings run smoothly noiselessly. During operation of traveling blocks,excessive noise from the bearingsand irregular vibration of sheaves are attributed to increased clearance of double-row conical-roller bearings.Improper lubrication for bearings results in wear increment.Irregular vibration of sheaves may decrease the service life of wire rope.To avert accidents,any worn bearing should be promptly replaced. If the guard becomes deformed to the extent of impairing sheaves running,rectify it as required. In case of sheaves with damaged rims,the wire rope is liable to run out of grooves or the wire rope is damaged due to its violent skipping.Thus replace such sheaves on time. The grooves with corrugated surface will blunt the wire rope when starting or stopping the sheaves,resulting in grave wearing,In such a case,re-machine or replace the grooves.When replacing the sheaves,make sure that material of new sheaves shll bear the predetermined load and possess adequate harsness. In consideration of great effect of contour size of the grooves on the service life of wire rope,calibrate them at regular intervals with special gauge.If the radius of grooves is less than values specified in API RP9B,replace or re-machine the sheaves,The repaired and renewed sheave grooves shall be in accordance with table 1.
