Read Paragraph 1 and practice the following expressions: Who writes this letter? Why? (Wendy writes this letter. Because she wants to tell Millie about Halloween.) Practice the phrase “tell sb. about sth.”. When do people have a special party at Halloween? (They have a special party on October 31st.) Practice the phrases “have a party” and “on October 31st”.2. Read Paragraph 2 and practice the following expressions: What game do people play at Halloween? (They play a game called trick or treat.) Practice the phrase “a game called”. How do people play the game called trick or treat?(They knock on peoples doors and shout trick or treat. Usually, they can get some candy as a treat. If they cant get a treat, they can play a trick on the people who dont give them a treat.) Practice the phrases knock on and play a trick on.3. Read paragraph 3 and revise the following expressions: What else do people do at Halloween? (They dress up at Halloween.) Practice the phrase “dress up (as)”. How do they dress up? (They wear special costumes with masks. They paint their faces.) Work at the differences between wear and put on. Jim, your coat. Its cold outside. What is he today? A blue t-shirt. He often a yellow sweater. We our shoes and went out.(put on, wearing, wears, is wearing, put.)4. Read paragraph 4 and paragraph 5, and practice the following expressions. What do people make to celebrate Halloween? (Pumpkin Lanterns.) How do people make pumpkin Lanterns? (They cut out the eyes, the nose and the sharp teeth.) When do people have a party for Halloween? (On the evening of October 31st.) Practice the phrases “on the evening of”. What do people eat? Do the eat mooncakes?Step 3 Doing consolidation exercisesI. Fill in the blanks with right words.
