Section B This activity reviews the words learnt before and introduces some new words. First ask students to read the phrases. Then have students circle the three things that are the most important to them. Get students to complete the work on their own and share. Step 4. 2a Listen. Look at the list in Activity 1. Put an “A” before each thing the soccer agent talks about and a “P” before each thing Michaels parents talk about.Step 5. 2b Ask students to listen again and complete the sentences. T: The columns on the left are starters. The columns on the right are endings. For example, if you join the Lions, youll become a great soccer player. (Play the tape again. Ask students to write the letters in the correct blanks. Then check the answers.)Step 6. 2c Pairwork This activity provides guided oral practice using the target language. Read the instructions for the activity. Point to the sample dialogue.Ask two students to read the questions and answers to the class. T:You can start with these phrases as you make up your conversations. Then try to use your own ideas. Then have students work in pairs. Call on different pairs to show their conversations to the class.Sample dialogue: S1: I think you shouldnt do this now. S2:But if I dont do this now.Ill never do it. Step 7. A debate. Divide the class into two groups.(One group gives Michael reasons for joining the Lion; the other group gives Michael reasons against joining the Lion. If they do well in debate, Ill give them little presents. Step 8. Exercises ( if time permits)Step 9. Summary and Homework : This class we have learnt some new words and the target language. What job do you want to do in the future? Do you want to be famous? Do you like to make a lot of money?
