Such topic is related to daily life of students, so it is easy to attract their attention and it is helpful to raise students awareness to follow rules. This unit is divided into two parts: Section A and Section B. Section A is divided into two periods. This is the second lesson of Unit4. It includes listening and speaking exercises. All activities provide students with chances to learn a new sentence pattern- the imperative sentence. It also increases the students listening and speaking ability through practices.Key points and difficult points in teachingi.Key points:To know some important words and phrases: arrive late for classes; follow rules; listen to ; To be able to discuss rules.ii.Difficult points: How to use imperative sentences correctly2. Teaching objectivesThe teaching objectives are based on the English syllabus of Junior School as well as the requirements of “go for it. Ive designed the class to help students to grasp key vocabularies and structures, at the same time to develop the students ability of communication. i. Knowledge objectiveKey vocabulary: rule; on time; arrive; listen to; fight; sorry; dining hall; outside; follow; follow the rules; on school days; Target language:Dont fight.Can you eat in the classroom?ii. Ability objective:To train students ability of listening and speakingTo train students ability of communicationiii. Moral objective:To follow rules will create a better environment for people.3.Analysis of the studentsStudents have entered middle school for more than half a year now. Their listening and speaking skills have been improved significantly after 6 months training. However, due to the unbalanced effort theyve made, their levels can vary tremendously. As a result, the class has to be planned carefully to meet the different needs. Apart from the learning difficulty of some students, a very serious problem we might see in many students is that some of them havent really got used to middle school life. They dont quite understand the necessity of rules. They assume that rules have restrained their freedom, not aware that rules actually guaranteed their freedom. Therefore, the class is carefully designed to solve this problem.4. The Teaching Methods & The Learning MethodThe teaching methodsi. Listening and speaking methodsii. Communicative teaching methodiii. Task-based teaching methodIn practice, Ill help the Students to get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue. Ill also give them some tasks and arrange some activities like: free talking, listening, role-play; having a competition. Above all, I will create real situations for students to practice oral English.The Learning MethodcooperationThe students will first do some exercise to improve their listening and speaking skills. And then they can have some time to talk freely with their group members about a certain topic. By discussing with one another, they get chances to learn from each other. By creating a relaxing atmosphere, I hope they can learn English in a happier mood, thus learn English more efficiently.5. Teaching Procedure Teaching stepsStep 1 Study the phrasesShow some phrases and help students review.Step 2 Leading in (2a)Show students some pictures of misbehaviors, and then ask them what are the students doing as well as whether it is right to do those activities.“What do they do in the classroom?”“Can we do this in class?”“Can we be late for class?”“Can we eat in the classroom?”So, if your classmate is eating in the classroom, you should tell him the school rule: “dont eat in the classroom”. If they are fighting with each other, you should tell them another school rule: “dont fight”Step 3 listening preparationWrite the rules, then ask students to judge from their own experience whether it is right to do so. Thus get students familiar with the listening material, so that the listening practice wont come as a shock to them. Dont arrive late for classes. You must be on time.We cant arrive late.
