The Teaching Designing of Review of Unit 1 Jinxi Primary School Luo ChunxiangPart 1, Teaching MaterialPEP Primary English Book 4 Unit 1 My SchoolThis unit is mainly talking about the names and positions of the school function rooms and sites. The key words are, “first floor, second floor, teachers office, library, playground, computer room, art room, music room”, and the important sentences are, “Where is the ? Its on the floor. Is this/ that the? Do you have a/an? A is next to B.” This is a review lesson, The main task is to consolidate, comprehensive apply and expand the target language. So its very important for the students to master the knowledge in this unit and get ready for learning the next unit.Part 2, Analysis of the StudentsMost of the students in Grade 4 are eager for talking about the things that they are familiar, and the topic of this unit is familiar for the students. Whats more, theyve learnt the key words, phrases and sentences. So they are willing to talk about this topic. However, while learning English, they are good at imitating, but weak in remembering, whats worse, they cant concentrate on one thing for a long time, and their study mostly depends on interest. Therefore, we should choose more teaching methods they like and design more interesting learning activities.Park 3, Teaching Aims First of all, according to the requirement of the New English Curriculum and the cognitive level of the pupils, I set the following aims:1. Aims on the knowledge The Ss can hear, read, say, understand, use and write the key words, phrases and sentences in unit 1.2. Aims on the abilitiesa. The Ss can do better in talking about the school function rooms and sites.b. The Ss are better at communication and group cooperation study.3. Aims on the emotiona. By completing the tasks, the Ss can increase their interest and be more self-confidence.b. The students love our school more deeply.Next, according to the aims and the situation of the students, the key points are better at communication, group cooperation study, talking about the school function rooms and sites. At the same time, increase the Ss interest and self-confidence. Then the difficult points are imitating writing the key sentences and using a short passage to introduce the school in English.Part 4, Teaching & Studying MethodsOn the bases of the analysis of the students and teaching aims, I mainly adopt the Situational Teaching Method and TBLT methods. I would like to let my students study English by listening, saying, imitating, doing exercises, working in groups, ect.Part 5 Teaching aidsPPT, Learning documents, MP3.Part 6 Teaching Procedure and purposes of my designing.Step 1, Warming-up (3 minutes)1. Listen and sing the song, Our school.2. Play the game, Sharp eyes with the word cards.(These steps are designed to catch the Ss attention, lead the Ss into thick English studying atmosphere.)Step 2, Presentation (2 minutes)Talk about the Guide wanted, introduce the rules.(This step is designed to create a situation for English learning and inspire the students interest.)Step 3, Practice (28 minutes)1. Get the students to match the pictures with the right words or phrases. Then read them aloud.(This step is designed to go over the key words and phrases.)2. Show some pictures of school function rooms and sites, have the students introduce them with the sentence patterns, This is./That is.(This step is designed to practice using the sentence patterns, This is./That is. .)3. Get the students to listen to the MP3 and choose the right pictures.(This step is designed to hear and understand the important sentences, help the students to get ready for the next task.)4. Show a school floor figure, guide the students to talk about the school function rooms and sites with the important sentences in this unit.5. Read the situation that the sentences described, choose the best answers.(These steps are designed to practice introducing the school with using the important sentences.)6. Read and choose the suitable sentences to complete the conversation between a little guide and the visitors in school. Then read the conversation aloud together.7. Read the article about introducing the school, and finish the exercises bellow.8. Work in groups to choose the suitable words or phrases to complete the article and try to introduce the school in English.(These steps are designed to practice consolidating, comprehensive applying the target language. And help the students be better at communication and group cooperation study.)9. Have the students to look at the pictures and write sentences after the samples.(This step is designed to practice writing the sentences.)Step 4, Summary (6 minutes)1. The students work in pair to talk about what they learnt in this lesson.2. Using the mind map to sum up what they learnt in Unit 1.(These steps are designed to help the Ss sum up what they learnt and learn to use main map. Also, lead to the emotion objective of this lesson. That is, love the school)Step 5, Homework (1 minutes)1. Write some sentences to introduce our school.2. Act as a little guide and guests in the school, to talk about our school.(These are to consolidating what they
