13. D hundreds of“成百上千的”。 take sth. with sb. three books为复数形式,故be动词用are。18. 19. A pretend to do sth.“假装做某事”,动词不定式的否定式应在to前加not。20. C forget to do sth.“忘记(要)做某事”。21. A have difficulty (in) doing sth. work out计算出。22. C stop to do sth.“停下来(去)做某事”。23. B tooto“太而不能”。24. C prefer to do sth. rather than do sth.“宁愿做某事不愿做某事”。25. B to eat 此处作something的定语。 26. A think about意为“考虑,思考”;depend on意为“依赖”;give up意为“放弃”;go on意为“继续”。 故选A。27. 28. C 由下文的hungry可知是选sick(病的,不舒服的)。 send out意为“寄出,发送”;get down意为“开始认真对待”;give back意为“归还”。31. as usual意为“像往常一样”;once again意为“再一次”;at first意为“首先”。35. She wanted to help poor students. 她出生在Hattiesburg, Mississippi,所以这里应该离the University of Southern Mississippi不远。 McCarty never married or had children. On the third Saturday in December可知,应该是在圣诞节前。42.
