Status and effects of this unit This unit is about rules, its very close to our daily life. So its easy to raise learning interests of the students . As a middle school student, its necessary to follow the rules of school, class, family and public places. So its also important to help students to understand parents and teachers to be a full man.2. Analysis of the students The students have learned some rules about school and family. Therefore they have obtained some basic knowledge. But they also need to use the modal verbs to talk about rules. So they still need to exercise more to master the new contents of this unit.3. Teaching aims knowledge aims The language goal of this unit in this class is using the modal verbs correctly. It focuses on talking about the rules and describes their opinions. By practicing, enable students to master the words and phrases and the basic usage of the modal verbs.Ability aimsEncourage the students to make full use of the knowledge and experience that they have learned to improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities. That is to say, the students can use the modal verbs to talk about their rules each other successfully and they can communicate in a correct and fluent way.Emotion aims From this class, Ill let my students try to stand in the parents and teachers view to understand the necessity of following the rules. In the meanwhile, when they face the stress and trouble, encourage them to find a good way to solve them.4. The important and difficult pointsThe important point is to guide the students to talk about their rules with the target language and improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.The difficult point is to develop their communicative ability and help students use the target language correctly.Part 2 Teaching MethodsIn order to train the students listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities. I will use Task-based teaching method and communicative teaching method. I think good teaching methods are keys to success.Part 3 Learning MethodsGroupwork, exploration and participation to reach the goal. Students-centered and teacher-guided learning strategies. Im not a teacher but a guider. Im ready to give them help whenever they need.Part 4 Procedure Appraise A class without appraisers is not a successful class. By praising them with language and applause, Ill make them experience more success. Then in groupwork, Ill give them the chance to appraise each other.Part 5 Teaching procedures Before teaching, I will give the students some tasks about family rules and divide the whole class into 6 groups to do competition while finish different tasks in this lesson.Step. Lead-in( 6)First, I will let them enjoy a video. Then let the students show their Qianzhixing homework about their family rules.Step. Presentation( 7)I will play a video and ask them “What can we do ? and What cant we do?” .Then show some pictures to let them use the modal verbs to talk about the rules. Step. Pairwork( 5)First, Ill ask some students “What family rules do you have? Can you do sth.? Do you have to do sth.?”. Then Ill ask them to practice the conversation in pairs. StepIV. Game( 3) Ill give them five letters, each group chooses their favorite letter, and say out the rules.StepV. Reading( 18)First, I will show some pictures to learn some new words and phrases. In order to help the students learn better, I will teach them three reading strategies through some activities. Those are hold the top sentence, catch the details and summarize the main idea of the passage. Then I will ask them to read the passage and have a reading competition to encourage them to read loudly and fluently. Step VI. Exercise (3) Let the students finish 2c. This activity can help students find out if they have mastered the knowledge or not.Step VII. Sum up (3)Ill show a picture of Obamas family, let the students know about their family rules. Then lead them to say: No rules, no standards! So we should start good habits when were young.Homework: 1. Write a short composition to say something about their family rules. The purpose for this homework is to improve the students writing abilities and consolidate the expressions. 2. Make a card about their family rules and show them in the class.
