Theoretical basisLearning is a dynamic process of construction according to English Curriculum Standards. Since real situations are the prerequisite of meaningful construction of knowledge, communicative approach is the necessary way to make students apply what they have learned to real communication. Thus, Task-based Language Teaching will be adopted. Teachers should create various kinds of activities and tasks to stimulate students interest and desire to interact with each other. . Analysis of Teaching Material and Learning Conditions The teaching material is from Section A (1a-2c) of Unit 11 How was your school trip? (Go for it, Students Book 2, Grade 1 for junior students in the 2st semester). Its topic is school trip and the first period located on a farm. Though farm is not a usual place we Chinese students will go, but the feeling of trip and new background is similar with todays travelling society. Its unusual but fun. Its useful for stimulating Ss passion to interact.It aims to let Ss try to talk about their trips or activities in the past. Since in primary school Ss have already learn little about the simple past tense, the phrases are not so difficult for them. But the sentence structure should be practiced in class. And because the lesson kind of first period mainly focus on listening and speaking, phonetic teaching must be emphasize.III. Teaching Objectives 1. Knowledge Objectives Ss will be able to master the new words and their pronunciation, especially the verb in the past tense and the pronunciation of ed. (go(went)to a farm; milk(ed) a cow; pick(ed) strawberries; talk(ed) with a farmer; learn(ed) from sb.; see(saw) quite a lot; feed (fed)chickens; grow(grew) fruit; ride(rode) a horse; take(took) some photos; show(ed)around )Ss will be able to master the yes/No questions and short answers in simple past tense)(-Did you/she/he/they+ (do)sth.? -Yes, I/she/he/they did. /No, I/she/he/they didnt-How was/How were? -It was/ They were)2. (I (did) on my school trip/ last weekend/ )3. Skill Objectives Ss are expected to acquire better enunciation of required words and recite new words with the aid of phonetic rules. Pay attention to the skill of Liaison(did you, /did/)Ss are expected to acquire the simple past of regular and irregular verbs.Ss are trained to predict the listening from the pictures.4. Affect Objectives Ss can know the things in the past could not be changed and cherish the time now. Ss can get access to the farming life. IV. Teaching focus and anticipated difficulties1.
