The students may have a lot of problems and trouble in their daily life.Analysis of teaching materials: This lesson is the first part of unit 4. It mainly talks about problems and how to give advice.Teaching objectives: Students are supposed to learn how to talk about the problems and give advice through listening and speaking. Students can use the target language to talk about their own problems and give reasonable advice to others in a certain situation. Students can understand that problems are common in life. The most important thing is to learn how to deal with them.Teaching key points: 1. The language goal: talk about problems and give advice. 2. The listening and speaking skills in the aspects of talking about problems and giving advice to others.Teaching difficult points: Students can freely use the target language in a real situation. Teaching procedures:Step 1: Warm-up The teacher shares a poem called Life with students. The teacher reads it and then asks students to find out the adjectives to describe what life is. In this way, the teacher can tell students life has two sides. It is not always beautiful.【设计意图】通过诗歌的导入,让学生从诗歌当中体会,生活就像硬币一样有好的一面,也有不好的一面。让学生理解生活并不总是完美的。为接下来学生谈论自己的问题做好情感铺垫。课件如下图: Step 2:Presentation The teacher asks students why life is sometimes bad or sad. Then give students the sentence structure Life is full of _. Students can talk about their ideas freely. In the end, the teacher concludes that life is full of problems. 【设计意图】通过Life is full of.的句型,让学生自由表达自己的观点。学生可以各抒己见。培养学生的发散性思维。Step 3:Read and talk The teacher introduces the five problems in 1a. Then the teacher gives the sentence structures and ask students to imitate them to talk about their own problems.1. I have to study too much so I dont get enough sleep I have to _ too much so I dont get enough _.2. I have too much homework so I dont have any free time to do things I like. I have too much _ so I dont have any free time to _.3. My parents dont allow me to hang out with my friends. My parents dont allow me to _.4. I have too many after-school classes. I have too many _.5. I got into a fight with my best friend. I got into a fight with _.【设计意图】通过对于课本问题的解读,学生首先达到理解的程度。然后能够以所给的语言支架为载体,去谈论自己类似的问题。既起到了落实语言知识的作用,又起到了引发学生思考和谈论的作用。可谓一石二鸟。Step 4:Listening practice 1【Activity 1】Before listening: Ask students to discuss in groups about the question If you have a problem, what will you do? . After students share their answers, the teacher can say that, Among these answers, I think talking with a friend is the best way. So lets listen to 1b. What are the two friends talking about.【Activity 2】While Listening: Ask students to listen to the tape in 1b twice. For the first time, students should find out what questions they are talking about . For the second time, students should fill in the blanks to learn the sentence structure Why dont you/ Maybe you should. (如下图)【设计意图】通过第一组练习完成课本的听力任务。通过第二组的教师自我设计的练习,进一步加深巩固听力内容,同时让学生学习给出建议的Why dont you句式。为下面的小的对话练习做好语言铺垫。【Activity 3】 After listening: Students make short conversations according to the sentence structures why dont you/ why not/ maybe you should in the listening. 【设计意图】学生综合听力前的谈论和听力的练习来自己组织自己的对话内容。这个环节实现了由语言输入到语言输出的过程。 (课件如下图)Step 5: Listening practice 2【Activity 1】Before listening: The teacher asks the students, Will you accept others advice? . After students express their different opinions, the teacher says, Lets listen to 2a. Will peter accept his friends advice?.【Activity 2】While listening: Ask students to do the listening exercise 2a and 2b. Students listen to 2a and fill in the blanks to learn the sentence structure You should/ could do. Then students listen to 2b and find out the reasons why peter doesnt like the advice.【Activity 3】The Teacher leads students to review the problems, advice and the reasons in 2a and 2b. Then give students these information on PPT to let them make a dialogue.如下图:【设计意图】从上一个对话练习只谈论问题,给出建议,到这个对话练习不仅谈论问题,给出建议,并且对于不同的建议有不同的回应方式。这在内容上是递进的关系。两次对话练习的位置合适,语言支架适当,使得对话练习进行得非常顺畅。【Activity 4】Brainstorm: Ask students the question ,Among the five pieces of advice, which is the best one? Do you have a better one?. Students express their own opinions.【设计意图】通过这个环节的设置,让学生思考哪种建议更好。为什么好。以及是否有更好的建议。锻炼了学生的思维能力和口头表达能力。Step 6:2d role-play【Activity 1】Ask students the question: Does peter accept his friends advice? What is the proper way to communicate with your friend? Lets look at 2d. 【Activity 2】Ask students to read 2d and find the answers Whats Kims problem? Whats Daves advice? Then repeat the dialogue after the tape. Next, girls act as Kim and boys act as Dave and read it one more time.【Activity 3】Ask students to think about which sentences show the proper way of communication.【Activity 4】Students make conversations to talk about their own problems according to the proper communication structures. 如下图:【设计意图】通过2d的学习,将对话中的固定句式提炼出来。形成一个完整对话的框架。学生综合这节课学习的所有知识,形成最后这个综合性的对话表演。Step 7:Conclusion【Activity 1】Tell students that Although life is full of problems, there are more ways to solve them.【Activity 2】Show students the poem Life and ask them to read out together. In the end, the teacher tells students :Life is what you make it. So
