T: Last class I gave your homework. You did a report about your collection. Now its time to show it. Take out your reports. Please exchang your results to your group. Then each group reports the best one to the whole class. Thy to use the structure: Whats your favorite collection?【设计意图:复习活动面向全体学生,让所有学生都参与其中,体验学习英语的快乐。】Step 2 Say his/her hometown1. Present the new words.T: Everyone has a hometown. In my hometown, there is a hill. Is there a hill in your hometown? (show pictures to teach hill). Teach other new words in this way (crayon, shame, count, century, memory.).2.(1a)Do a surveyCheck () the places or things you can find in your town or city. (1) Presentation Look at the picture. Pay attention to the words. T: What are there in your hometown? Look at the words in the box of 1a. Read them first and check the places or things you can find in your town or city. Lets see which group gets the most answers.(2) Try to use the words to make sentences, the more the better.Ss: .3. Guessing game: About hometown!T: Ive told you to find the places in your town. Now please tell my about your hometown. then try to describe it, and others guess. For example, my hometown has g very good place, you can borrow books and read books there.The group who can guess out the most questions is the winner.Ss:4. ( 1b ) Have a race!T: Just now we have found many interesting places in our town or city. In this class lets welcome two new friends. One is Martin, the other is Jenny, do you want to know what are in their hometown? Do they like or dislike their hometown? Lets listen to the tape and answer these questions. (2a) GuessingT: Nowadays, more and more Chinese leave their hometown to the cities. Do you know why do they leave their hometown? Do you know how often do they visit your hometown? Now this class lets learn an article about Zhong Wei, but first you should answer these questions, and then find out if your answers are the same as in the passage. Ss: .T: Now you read the passage, then correct your answers and tell me your answers again.Ss: .Compare which group guesses the answers right.2. Points in the passage.Let the students read the passage for the second time. Try to find out what they dont understand. (1) millions of 成百万上千万 million, 百万,使用时前面如果有基数词修饰时不能加“ s”, 只有与of 连用时才可加.Example: There are millions of things living on the earth. There are two million people in this city.(2) among 在.(三者以上)中之一I live among the mountains.(3) 46-year-old 46岁的, 在句中做形容词修饰名词用。He is a 46-year-old worker.他是一位46岁的工人。(4) used to 是一个固定搭配,指过去常常,以前常常,后面常接动词原形。I used to return home at least twice a year.(5) regard with. 以.的态度看待某人He regards me with favour. 他很赏识我。(6) since the mid-20th century 自从20世纪中期, 通常与现在完成时连用。Kids have learned English since the mid-20th century.(7) stay the same 保持相同same, 形容词,相同的,同样的,通常与定冠词“the”连用。His hometown cant stay the same.(8) opposite 介词,表示位置,在.对面There is a big supermarket opposite my school.有一个大超市在我学校对面。(9) such a happy childrenhood 这样一个快乐的童年such, 这样的,如此的,通常修饰名词。There is no such thing.3. (2b ) Having a race.(1)Guessing the meaningT: Show the words and the phrases on the screen. The Ss in their groups guess the meaning, which group guess the most and the fastest is the winner.(2)Read the passage in groups for the third time. Find expressions in the passage that have the same meanings as these words and phrases.
