Instructional DesignUnit 5 Why do you like pandas? Section A (1a-1c)I. Analysis of the Students The students have been learning English for at least 4.5 years, however, they are poor at expressing themselves in correct grammars. Their oral abilities are not well-trained so they may have difficulties in oral presentation. But the students are active in class and they are eager to master the new knowledge.II. Analysis of the Teaching Materials The topic of this unit centers on animals. In this section, the listening materials show the students how to talk about animals, the reasons why we like or dislike a certain kind of animals and the countries which the animals come from. After listening, the structures will be presented to help students with oral exercises.III. Teaching Aims and DemandsA. Knowledge1. Students will be able to master the words of animals and know how to describe them using description words.2. Students will be able to talk about why they like or dislike some animals.B. Teaching ToolsPPT, large pieces of paper, markersVII. Teaching Procedures1. Greet the students Greet the students and reinforce the verbal stipulation “(T)Love animals, (Ss)love the world”2. Warming-up Show a video to the students, “My Favorite Animals”, and remind the students to pay attention to the animals in the video. Then play the video. Questions: (1) What animals can you see in the video? (2) What other animals do you know? Jot down the students answers on the blackboard.3. Guessing Game The students are expected to guess the animals according to the personification narration of five different animals, a panda, a giraffe, a lion, an elephant and a koala. After that, the teacher teaches the students the new words and asks the students to read the narrations loudly.4. Review The new words are categorized into three columns, Animals, Description Words and Countries they are from. The students stand up and read the words one after another until all of the students have got their own opportunity. Meanwhile, the teacher help the students with the words they are not sure about.5. Listening For the first time, the students listen to the recording and and tick the animals they hear in 1a. For the second time, the students should answer three more questions.(1) What are the girls favorite animals? Why?(2) Does the boy like loins?(3) How does the girl think of koalas?6. Pair-work The teacher present the structures the students may use when talking about the animals. Do you like.? Why do you like.?/ Why dont you like.? Where are. From?/Where e from? Then the students will have 2 minutes to practice the conversation with their deskmates. The teacher invites 10 pairs to show their conversations.7. Exercise: Cloze In this part, the students should complete the introduction of the animals with the words they have learned in this class.8. Group-work The students form into groups of four and write an article about one kind of animals they like. The article shoul
