The teacher asks questions to lead the class to review the story.Hows the weather in Canada and Europe?What are Su Lin and Dave doing?Step 2.Reading and filling in the blanks (3a)1. Before writingSu Lin is on a vacation in Canada and Dave is in Europe.Do you know where Kate is? Please read the postcards in 3a and try to fill in the blanks.2. Have one student read the postcards aloud and others check their work.Then the teacher shows the pictures prepared for the students to match with the articles. Teach the words when talking about the pictures .Write winter, scarf(scarfs/scarves), sausage, skating, snowy.3. Read the letter in 3a more carefully.T: What kind of information is mentioned in the passage? Please read the passage again carefully .Then discuss the problem.In the passage, the writer mentions the weather, clothes, people, special food, activities and feelings.Step 3.Writing (3b-3c)1. Before writingT: Imagine its May Day. You are on a vacation. Can you ask and answer the questions in 3b? Please work in pairs.2. T: Now you can write down your own answers in the exercise books.3. Students write down their answers. Then ask three students to read their answers aloud to class.4. Have students make a postcard with a piece of paper. Write something on it.T: Now make your own postcards. Write about your feeling, the weather, your vacation activities, and something else you like.Students write their postcards. The teacher gives help and then have some of them read their postcards aloud. Put some good postcards on the blackboard. Step 4.Self Check1. Activity 1: Collecting the words of feelings, weather, activities.2. Read the word list aloud. And ask them to make conversations.Have students to answer with the words they can think of. Then ask some pairs to act out their own conversations.3. Activity 2: Making telephone conversations.4. Activity 3: Putting the sentences in order to make a conversation.Students work by themselves and then practice in pairs.
