Unit 4 When is Easter?A Lets TalkI. Teaching Aim: 1. Enable the Ss to understand and to say the festivals in a year, especially Easter;2. Enable the Ss to understand, to say, to read and to use the dialogue in part A.II. Teaching important and difficult points: 1.New words and expressions: special days, April Fools Day, Easter 2.New sentences: When is April Fools Day? Its on April 1st. 3.To understand and to use the dialogue. III. Teaching aids:multimedia(computer, projector, sound equipment), PPT, reading materials and exercises, a calendar, word cardsIV. Teaching Procedure:I). Preparation(Warm-up):1. Listen and sing a song: Twelve months.2. Free talk: (PPT)How many days are there in a year? (There are 365 days or 366 days in a year. )How many days are there in a week? (There are 365 days or 366 days in a year. )Whats the date today?( I)1-2设计意图:通过歌曲和对话热身,有效复习上一单元学习过的一年12个月以及相关的日期表述。)3. Review the ordinal numeral and read the dates: first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, twentieth- April 1st , January 1st, December 25th -4. Finish Exercise 1 on the paper: Choose the words and finish the sentences.( I) 3-4设计意图:帮助学生复习上节课学习过的序数词,让学生从口头和笔头运用上再度熟悉序数词,有助于学生理解新课。)II) Presentation1. To help the Ss to get the meaning of special daysA. T: Its April 25th today. Is it a special day? There are some special days in a year, for example, your birthday. When is your birthday? S: Its on June 2nd . T: So June 2nd is a special day to you. ( II)1 A设计意图:通过学生熟悉的生日话题,帮助学生理解特别的日子。)B. Except for the birthday, people also have some other special days in a year. (Show the pictures of the following special days on PPT). Eg: Whats the special day in January? New Years Day is in January. When is New Years Day? Its on January the 1st.The special days in different months:in Jan: New Years Day (Jan.1st )in Feb: Chinese New Year/ Spring Festival (Lunar Jan.1st, compare lunar and solar) Lantern Festival(Lunar Jan.15th) in Mar: Womens Day (Mar.8th) Tree-planting Day(Mar. 12th)in Apr: April Fools Day(Apr.1st) Easter (from Mar.22nd to Apr.25th) Tomb-sweeping Day(Apr.4th or 5th)in May: May Day(May 1st) Mothers Day(the 2nd Sunday in May)in June: Childrens Day(Jun.1st) Fathers Day(the 3rd Sunday in June)in July: Birthday of Communist Party of China(July 1st)in August: Army Day(Aug.1st)in Sep: Teachers Day (Sept. 10th)in Oct: National Day (Oct.1st) Halloween(Oct.31st)in Nov: Thanksgiving Day(the 4th Thursday in Nov.)in Dec: Christmas(Dec.25th)( II)1 B设计意图: 联系一年中的阳历和农历节日,拓展“特别的日子”,帮助学生深入理解一年中更多的special days,为后面学生在学习Lets Talk后,使用自己喜欢的节假日编对话做准备。基于课本高于课本的原则,拓展节日的同时,我们还拓展阳历和农历的知识和说法,让学生接触了解更多关于日期表达方式。)2. To elicit the dialogue in A Lets Talk.(T: Great, you know so many special days in a year. Does ZP also know the special days? Mrs. Jones is talking with him. Lets listen to it.)A.To finish lets try: listen and do the exercises, then check it.B. To understand “Lets talk”.Step 1: Guide the Ss to watch the cartoon of “Lets Talk”, and then read it by themselves. Answer the following questions: *What are Mr. Jones and ZP talking about? *What are the special days? * When is April Fools Day? * When is Easter that year?( II)2 Step 1设计意图:通过观看张鹏和Mr. Jones的卡通对话,让同学们初步解对话的意思。教师从4个简单的问题,测试出学生对此对话的理解程度。从而调节下一步的教学策略。)Step 2:To know more about Easter.A. To watch a video of Easter Activities In White House, and then read some materials about Easter.B. To read a short passage about Easter, then finish exercises II and check the answers.( II)2 Step 2设计意图:复活节是西方国家的宗教节日,这个节日对于中国的孩子比较陌生。美国白宫的复活节活动视频让同学们直观了解到欧美国家的孩子在复活节的时候会玩什么,吃什么,做什么,以及参加什么活动。接着,通过阅读复活节材料,让同学们更深入了解复活节的来历、时间和对于宗教人士的意义。这部分属于节日拓展,让同学们从文化上了解欧美国家的宗教和习俗。)III).Practice:Go on learning “Lets Talk”.A. Follow the recorder to read the dialogue, pay attention to the intonation and pronunciation.B. To read the dialogue together.C. To finish the matching exercise under the dialogue on the Ss book.( III)设计意图: 逐句模仿原声电脑录音朗读对话对于学生形成标准而地道的语音语调非常有帮助。完成对话后的练习环节有效巩固前半节课学习过的节日和对应时间。)IV).Production:Show the dialogue pattern and encourage the Ss to imitate the dialogue to make a new one.(A) To read the dialogue pattern together.(B) To show the festivals in different months , encourage the Ss to make a new dialogue with their partners.(C) Encourage the Ss to show their own dialogue.(IV设计意图: 学以致用,教师提供课文类似的对话模型,以及多种节日素材,鼓励学生自己模仿课文对话,跟同伴一起编造出新的对话。这部分属于新的生成,有效锻炼了学生口语交际能力和综合应用能力。)V). Progress :To finish exercise III on the paper and check the answers.( V)设计意图: 翻译法有效检测学生是否真正掌握本对话内容,在前面各环节已经提升学生听力、口语、阅读的基础,本环节继续提升学生的书面翻译、仿写、拼写和书写能力)VI) Homework:1.To read, to recite A Lets Talk, make a re
