Instructional objectives 1) Students can master the usage of important phrases: in silence ; take down ; the rest of and Reading Strategy.2) Students should talk about past events.2. Educational objectives1) Students can guess the meaning without knowing exactly every words meaning. 2) Students should learn to tell a story.3. Personal objectives 1) I can explain the important phrases and sentence structures clearly and make it understood easily by my students. 2) I can guide my students to make decisions wisely. Focal points: The usage of past events.Difficult points: Reading comprehensionTeaching Procedure: Lead-in (5min) 1) A free talk: What were you doing when you heard the news?2) The teacher plays the video and the students listen carefully and answer the questions: Who was he? What was his dream? Do you know anything about him?While-reading (21min) 1) By listening to the tape, students learn some new words.2) Fast reading and use the Reading Strategy to find the key sentence of each paragraph:Paragraph 1: People often remember what they were doing when they heard the news of important events in history.Paragraph 2: The most everyday activities can even seem important.Paragraph 3: Most people remember what they were doing when they heard the news of important events which happened after they were born.Paragraph 4: Not all events in history are terrible.2) Read the passage carefully and answer the questions. When was Dr. Martin Luther King murdered? Where was he killed? What was the weather like that day? What was Robert doing when he heard the news? How did he feel? How do you know that? What happened in New York on September 11, 2001? Read paragraph 4, find the events of positive energy.3) Match the events with the correct dates. Events Dates1.
