Greeting Greet the class as usual.Step2. Lead in1. T: Today, well come to Unit5. Before that, Id like to show you some video clips and then please answer my questions.Questions: (1) What is my son doing? (2) What are the students doing? (3) What happened? (4) What happened?( Help the Ss answer question3,4 )2. T: We got 4 sentences- He is washing his feet. They are playing basketball. Two reporters were reporting news in the studio when the earthquake came. The monk was speaking when the monkeys jumped onto his head. T: The first two sentences are present continuous tense. The last two sentences are past continuous tense. Can you find the difference between these two groups of sentences? As we all know, we can use “be doing” to achieve continuous tense. In present continuous tense, we use “am/is/are”, but in past continuous tense, we use “was/were”. (Write down “be doing”, “am/is/are” and “was/were” on the blackboard.)Step3. DrillsLook at the pictures, and answer the question-What were they doing when you saw them.Step4. Presentation1. T: Yesterday, there was a rainstorm coming to a small town. There were 4 people in different places doing different things at the time of the rainstorm. Now, open your books and turn to page 33. Look at the 4 pictures. Can you guess what they were doing? (Ask several Ss to guess the answers.)2. Listen to the TV report and fill in the blanks. 3. T: The rainstorm was so heavy that it made many peoples life inconvenient. For example, a boy met his unlucky day when the rainstorm came. Now, turn to page 34. Lets listen to the tape, and answer my questions: (1) How many bad things happened to the boy? What were they? (2) What did the boy do after his unlucky day?4. Emotional educationT: The boy felt better after taking a shower and eating food. Is that right? Everyone can meet some bad things. When bad things happen to you, dont be upset. You can find a way to relax yourself. And you should always be optimistic.Step5. Happy Moment Divide Ss into 4 groups. Ss in Group1 write down “somebody”, Ss in Group2 write down “someplace”, Ss in Group3 write down “something” and Ss in Group4 write down “sometime”. Then choose one from each group and put these words into a sentence.Example: Two reporters were reporting news in the studio when the earthquake came.Step6. Summary and HomeworkT: In this period, weve learned some new words and expressions. Please review them after class. Besides, please read and recite 2d on page34. Next period, Ill
