A Brief Introduction to Section B 2a-3b in Unit 9, Grade 6Hu Weiweifrom Yichang No.16 Middle SchoolGood morning, ladies and gentlemen! Today Ill introduce my teaching ideas about 2a-3b of Section B, Unit 9. I divide my introduction into 6 parts: teaching material analysis, students analysis, teaching aims analysis, teaching and learning methods analysis, teaching procedures, summary, homework and blackboard design. Part 1 Teaching Material AnalysisAs we can see, its a reading material about healthy eating diet from 2a to 3c. By learning the first three periods, students not only have mastered the words about food and known how to use them correctly, but also they have known the general questions to “Do/Does” to ask about others taste. In 2a, students are supposed to think of the question: which food do you think is healthy/unhealthy? which is actually prepared for the following topic. In 2b, according to the form, it is a survey about a volleyball players eating habits, which is a good way to keep healthy and strong. In 2c, the purpose is to let students consolidate the article by retelling on the basic of understanding the whole article. Learning this period well will help students know how to write a passage on healthy eating habit.Part 2 Students AnalysisThe teaching objects in this class are the students in Grade 7, who just enter junior high school for two months. Although they have a strong curiosity in English, they are also afraid of making mistakes. So it is the best time for teachers to increase students confidence and cultivate students interest. Therefore, I pay a lot of attention on the diversity and joy of the activities, aiming to face all students and fully mobilize the enthusiasm of each student. Part 3 Teaching and Learning Methods AnalysisMy students are smart, active and creative. They have formed good learning habits. For example, they know how to preview before class and how to make group assessment by themselves in or after class. I will mainly use the student-centered learning strategies and task-based language teaching method as well as communication method, scene method and CAI to fulfill the teaching aims. Part 4 Teaching ProceduresI usually spend 45 minutes teaching from 2a to 3b including 6 steps.Part A Pre-readingStep 1 Know me (5 mins)First, I will greet with students and introduce myself, then I will ask them to guess my favorite food by some tips. Next, I will let them enjoy a video that includes different kinds of food and brainstorm what food they see and know. Finally, I will ask them to discuss in groups: Which food do you think is healthy/unhealthy? Because I think the video will get students attention and get students warmed up about the topic.Step 2Know you (2 mins)After introducing me, I will ask them to discuss in pairs: Which food do you think is healthy/unhealthy? Competition between groups about giving words.Then,I will encourage students to say what food they like for breakfast/lunch/dinner. It aims to practice .Step 3 Know her (2 mins)First, I will ask them to describe the picture about Gina Smith to present new words and phrases, because knowing the news words and phrases well will make the reading easier. Then, I will ask students to guess what fruit Cindy likes and what food Cindy dislikes from the title, it aims to get students interested in reading this passage.Part B While-readingStep 4 Fast-reading (2mins)After guessing, I will ask the students to skim the passage and find the main idea of the passage, which can help develop the students ability to conclude .Step 5 Detail-reading (10mins)Task 1: Listen and read, then circle the missing words.Task 2: Read in groups loudly and then complete the chart about Ginas eating habits.Task 3: Read together and find out more questions Q1: Why does Cindy like fruit? Q2: Why doesnt Cindy like hamburgers? Q3: Why doesnt Cindy eat ice-cream?In this step, it will make the whole class move on smoothly and develop the students ability of getting information from reading materials. At the same time, it can develop the students ability of inference.Part C Post-readingStep 6 Consolidation (4mins)Task 1: Retell Cindys eating habits.Task2: Write five sentences about Cindys eating habits.In this step, I make great efforts to train students speaking ability to obtain information so as to improve their comprehensive competence and develop the students ability of writing.Part 5 SummaryAs you can see, in order to get the students realized the importance of healthy eating habits, Ive planned different ways of reading and designed different kinds of activities. I will invite them to watch a video about my students daily lives and talk about how the students keep healthy, then I will give them some leaves and ask them to write down some advice or good eating habits on how to be healthy. In the end, make a healthy tree, and do a report in groupsPart 6 Homework and Blackboard DesignHomework designAfter the class, I will ask students to write their own eating habits to i
