模块模块 5 Module 5 专题一 英语技能的教学分析 听说 TASK 1 Answer the following questions 1 What is the main feature of listening skill Listening is an active process that has three basic steps Hearing Understanding Ju dging Listening is an active communicative perform and listening is an active psych ological processing sampling predicting testing confirming or revising 1 What is the successful listening Listening is successful as long as the listener gets the information he wants to achie ve successful listening the listener not only needs to understand what is directly exp ressed but to identify what is indirectly meant such as the relationship between spea kers the moods or attitudes of the speakers the degree of success of a particular liste ning performance could be evaluated according to the listener s interpretation of wh at has been said 1 What approach should you use in teaching listening Why In teaching listening we should use the following approaches according to different listening texts Bottom up approach Top down approach and Interactive approach B ecause these approaches can improve listening skill 1 What are the main stages for you to use when you teach listening and what skills can be trained at each stage There are three main stages when we teach listening Pre listening While listening an d Post listening we can develop predicting skill and comprehensive abilities 1 How can you improve the students listening skills 1 listening materials should be suitable and interesting 2 Enlarge the students vocab ulary and some background knowledge and culture 3 encourage the students to listen more and read more TASK 2 Self Analysis 1 Your understanding of the relationship of listening skill with other three skills There are four basic skills in English learning listening speaking reading and writing Listening and reading are the skills of understanding while speaking and writing are s kills of expressing So listening is the most important and it is an important way to im prove the students speaking skill reading skill and writing skill 2 Your approach to teaching listening in your class If there are many new words that students don t know in the listening materials I will t each them the new words before listening I always encourage students to predict wha t they will hear While listening I ask them to listen for the main idea and details and take notes 1 Your ability to design different tasks to train the students listening Before listening ask my students to understand the listening material and ask the stud ents to say something about questions predict what they will hear At last give some t ips about how to get the points 1 Your performances of teaching and managing your English listening class 1 listen to the tape and encourage them to understand the main idea 2 finish the liste ning tasks 3 try to have a whole listening class TASK 3 Report your own inquiries Well known SLA Second Language Acquisition expert Richard Schmidt has put forw ard a theory called the Noticing Hypothesis which states that learners have to notice s omething before they can learn it And as such we need to help our students notice lang uage points An ideal listening class should thus provide both practice and instruction St udents need practice in listening for meaning and also some instruction about how to do so effectively I need to help students choose authentic listening material and realistic ta pe It is said good listening materials could help students to gain confidence at the begin ning Listening demands listener engagement Long tapes are not recommended Everyt hing depends on the level and the kind of tasks that go with a tape What s more When I teach listening I need to teach not only English but I also need to teach how it is used I need to teach both the language system our knowledge of language grammar and voc abulary etc and the use of the language system the skills of language use Our knowle dge of the language system includes our
