a i have three kids and a great husband and i m enjoying a career that i find challenging and fun to the outside world this feels like success but there is still a voice in my heart asking if this is friend who shares an appreciation for wilderness and silence for six days we were immersed 沉浸 in wild raw scenery and real weather a11 kinds of weather climbing a mountain against rain and returning to a tent for a simple meal reminds you how little you actually need and how strong it feels to be uncomfortable sometimes i found silence in iceland and time to consider the me outside of career and the me outside of kids as i shared stories with strangers when i stopped talking and just 1istened i became more generous i 1earned that choosing to be generous can create more space more food and more warmth but i didn t really gain any better appreciation of what i want from life or my job i suspect the anxiety that drove me to seek silence in iceland was losing sight of my ability to choose gratitude and joy and to be present in the challenges i set in my career and my family i came home to noise rush and love with no less confusion on who i want to be i know the answer isn t waiting out there on the top of a mountain in iceland the answer is in front of me with every step on my own 1ife s path and in every choice i make 21 why did the author take a trip to iceland a to gain a new kickapoo street and across to where the gravel started my daddy had come from a family of 10 and they had been farmers in a poor area in oklahoma there was only one way to do things and that was the right way praises were rare so when he expressed his approval it was special i didn t want to experience his glare if i ground the clutch or the car shook as i tried to get it going i took a deep breath slowly let out the clutch pushed the stick into second gear eased down the road and then carefully moved into third gear he had me stop and repeat the procedure two or three more times until i came to the end of the section i was feeling pretty good as i came to a stop and looked to daddy for approval he glared at me and then barked you ve been driving haven t you he must have thought i d course to its curriculum medical students can now take cooking classes in addition to their usual training this is intended to improve doctors nutritional knowledge and encourage them to use food to prevent or cure illnesses according to a survey most medical students in the u s receive on average 20 hours of nutritional education throughout their entire education this is an extremely low number especially when one considers that diet is at the core 核 心 of many modern western diseases from type 2 diabetes heart disease reflux to obesity allergies depression and arthritis eating the right foods can go a long way towards recovery while significantly reducing dependency on medicinal drugs a big part of the problem is that nutritional guidelines in north america are vague impractical and difficult to apply everyone from doctors to schoolchildren learns about specific nutrients and percentages of recommended daily intakes but that doesn t translate easily to the grocery store training doctors to cook however takes nutritional education to a whole new level not only will doctors be able to explain which foods are best to eat but they will also understand how to prepare them tulane medical students prepare for teaching future patients by offering free cooking classes to new orleans residents a mutually beneficial arrangement for everyone who shares that food fortunately the model seems to be catching on already two other medical schools have licensed the curriculum and are adding it to their courses tulane also offers nutritional training for health focused chefs from a nearby cooking school which makes a lot of sense after all with the frequency with which north americans eat out we could all benefit from chefs who know how to balance nutrition with great taste 29 diseases 30 what s the author s attitude towards the present nutritional guidelines in america a amazed b confused c dissatisfied d interested 31 what can we know about the course from the last paragraph a it will benefit chefs b it is becoming popular c it has a long way to go d it encourages eating out 32 which of the following can be the best title for the text a take a cooking course b
