New Standard English Book 4 Module5 Unit1 Amy s taller than Lingling Qiuchang Middle School Xia Min Part 1 Analysis of the teaching material My teaching content is from New Standard English Book 4 Module5 Unit1 It mainly talks about the height age with the comparative adjectives In this unit students will first use the comparative adjectives to describe the differences between people And it s a good start for students to talk about the differences between view or places in unit2 even Module 6 As for the students they ve learned English for one year and a half they are interested in it they knew how to use adjectives before So it s important to practice their speaking and listening it s also important to develop the abilities of their cooperation in class I ll try to make the class relaxing and active Part2 Teaching aims Knowledge aim Words than old young strong Sentences Amy is taller than Daming Ability aim Learn to describe the differences between people with the comparative degrees of the adjectives Emotional aim Take more interests in English Know better about friends and get on well with them Teaching key points Use the comparative adjectives older younger stronger to describe people correctly Teaching difficult points To describe the differences between two people with the target languages A be 动词 er than B Part3 Methods of teaching In order to have an effective class There will be modle teaching method situation teaching method guessing games and so on in class The purpose is to help the students grasp the words and sentences easily and make the students have a deep impression of the target languages Part4 Methods of learning As we know Teaching is learning so it s necessary for students to have more chances to show themselves in class I will set group work survey and report activities to help the students communicate better I hope the students can set up confidence after class Confidence is important to the children Part5 Teaching procedures Step1 Warm up First I will ask the students to sing a song Please stand up Next ask the students to play a game Find friends The purpose is to have a relaxing start and review the adjectives for the next step Step2 Presentation First tell the students there will be a mask party in Yangcun Then ask the question Can you compare these goats with the adjectives Here students will learn about the new words old young strong Teacher writes the words down Next with the help of PPT students can see the picture with Xi Yangyang and Hui Tailang on it They can learn about the sentence structure A be 动词 er than B Teacher writes the sentences down The purpose is to make the students take more interests in English class Because most of the students like the cartoon Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf To make sure the students are able to grasp the target languages easily and happily Step3 Practice First have the students make sentences one by one in groups eg I m taller than you My pen is longer than your pen to talk about the differences between classmates and schoolthings Then ask some groups to report it Next have the students make a survey in groups to talk about their families with the comparative acjectives Then ask some groups to have a report At last have a chant taller taller taller I m taller than you The purpose of these activities is to make sure if the students can use the target languages correctly To let the students practice speaking and listening more Step4 Textbook First with the help of PPT I ll ask the students to listen and think about Who is taller stronger older in the picture Next ask the students to listen again and do the exercises Finally ask the students to look listen and repeat The purpose is to practice students speaking and listening again And they can memorize the target languages impressively Step5 Summary The teacher make a question What have you learned today then ask several students to show their ideas The teacher shows the key sentences with the help of PPT The purpose is to check if the students know what they learned In addition to foster students ability of analysis Step6Homework 1Have the students read the text fluently 2Make a survey about places with the comparative adjectives The purpose of the first one is to remind the students of practicin
