parts Analysis of the teaching material Analysis of the students the teaching methods and aids the studying methods the teaching procedures and Blackboard design First let me talk about the teaching material This class is the period This is a reading passage including activities It plays an important part in the English teaching of this module If students learn it well it will be helpful to make them study the rest of this Module By learning this passage students can improve their reading ability and have a better understanding of At the same time I will help the students to understand some difficult sentences to comprehend the passage better In order to finish the learning task of this lesson I establish the three teaching aims a The knowledge aims 1 The Ss can master the usage of the important words and expressions 2 The Ss can understand the content of the lesson 3 The students can learn and know is also very important in communication 2 b The ability aims 1 develop the ss abilities of listening speaking reading and writing 2 train the student s self studying cooperating and communicating abilities c The moral aims 1 stimulate the students enthusiasm to 2 by joining in activities ss have self confidence and interest in learning English After the analysis of the contents of this module I set up the teaching Important Point is to help the students improve their reading ability by skimming scanning and help them to understand the passage better Teaching difficult point is how to lead the students to talk in class actively and understand some difficult sentences in the reading passage Then let me talk about the students The students in this grade have known something about and the cultural background through the Internet and other ways They have English learning motivation and stronger self study consciousness With my help they can carry out a series of activities But it is hard for them to understand some difficult sentences in the reading passage and use them correctly So I must pay more attention to this and try my best to help them 3 In order to break through the key points and difficult points I choose a computer a multi media a tape recorder and the blackboard as my teaching aids and I will use Task based teaching approach cooperating approach and Communicative Approach to finish my teaching As for the studying methods the students will do drills to master what they should master They will take part in the activities and finish the task in pairs or groups According to the new curriculum standard the students are the masters and the teacher is a director I design the following teaching procedures Step 1 Greetings and Revision Greet the whole class as usual And then review last class by asking them some questions This can consolidate what ss have learnt last period Step 2 Lead in Pre reading Ways 1 I will give the students a performance without saying anything first then ask the students to guess what my performance is about 2 Ask ss some questions such as Can you Do you Why 3 Show ss some pictures on the screen and ask them to discuss in pairs and describe every picture in English and then let some Step 3 Pre reading Let the ss look at the title and the picture s and predict what the reading passage is about This step can train the ss predicting ability and prepare for reading Step 4 while reading Task 1 Skimming First I will ask the students to look through the passage quickly and choose the best title for the passage Second I will ask the students to find out the main idea of each paragraph Para 1 Para 2 Para 3 This can improve students reading speed and train their ability of getting information within very short time Task 2 Listening Ask Ss to listen to the tape and finish the exercises on the screen This task can train ss listening ability and prepare for later exercises 5 Task 3 scanning Ask Ss to read the passage carefully and answer the following questions 1 2 3 Task 4 Scanning Ask Ss to read the passage carefully again and finish the following chart This can help the students further understand the passage and find out the detailed information I use Task based teaching method to develop the Ss communicative ability and their co operative ability Step 5 Post reading Task 1 Retell the passage in Ss own words according to the chart Task 2 Students work in groups of four and then choose a reporter to share their opinions about with the whole class This can make ss use the information from the passage again and this is also a good way to go over the whole reading and train students ability of team work Step6 Summary I will help the ss to summarize the reading skills skimming and scanning 6 skills Skimming means read quickly to grasp the main idea of the whole passage or each paragraph Scanning means read carefully to find out the detailed information of the passage This step can help them master the reading skills better to improve their reading ability Step7 Homework 1 Write a short passage about 2 Preview the language points in the reading This can improve their writing ability and self study ability Blackboard design
