More than 1.2 billion people lack access to clean and safe water Providing safe and clean drinking water would save money by freeing hospital beds from patients with disease caused by dirty water. 12 percent of the worlds population uses 85 percent of its water, and these 12percent live in developed countries.Group 2: Air pollution Air pollution causes more than 2.7 million deaths in the world every year. Most air pollution is caused by the burning of fuels like coal, gas and oil. Each year tens of thousands of people die as a result of breathing polluted air. Air pollution causes other diseases and may make it easier for children to get sick in the future.Group 3: Poor sanitation Over 2.4 billion people have no access to sanitation. Every day, as many as half of all the people on the earth suffer from one of the many diseases caused by poor sanitation. Without proper sanitation, efforts to improve health care are useless.Group 4: Poverty Half the world lives on less than two dollars a day.1.3 billion people live on less than one dollar a day.
