Teaching goals:1.Knowledge goals(1)words and phrases:watching TV, cleaning, reading a newspaper, talking on the phone ,listing to a CD, using the computer, making soup, washing the dishes, exercising, swimming, running(2)sentence: What be sb.doing? Sb.is/am/are doing Is he/she doing? Yes,he/she is. No,he/she isnt.He/she is2.Ability goals-Be able to talk about what people are doing.-Know the form of Present Progressive Tense and the basic rules of the present participles.3.Emotional goals(1)We can cultivate studentsinterest to discover what is happening in their life.(2)Students will be willing to take part in various activities and communicate in English.(3)Develop studentsspirit of cooperation by working in groups.二Teaching important and difficult points:1.Teaching important points(1)the new words and phrases, the form of Present Progressive Tense (2)How to use the new tense to ask and answer what is happening correctly.2.Teaching difficult points(1)the form of Present Progressive Tense(2)the forms and the pronunciations of the present participles三Teaching aidsa computer , the blackboard and chalks四.Teaching stepsStep 1:Lead in Greet students. Then, show students a picture. T: Where are the ? What are they doing? S: They are in the playground. They are playing basketball.Step 2: Presentation1. Show some pictures on the big screen .Present the new words and expressions.2. Students watch and learn the expressions and sentences.3. Learn the -ing forms of the verbs at the same time.Show the -ing form of the verbs, ask students to try to read them, and the compare the three groups of verbs on the blackboard to tell the differences. 4.Help the students to find out the rules of changing verbs into their -ing forms.Step 3: Play a game Act and guess: One student will use body language to show an activity, the other will guess what he or she is doing.Tips:(1)Three groups, each group has only 1 minute. (2)When you dont know what he is doing, you can just say “pass”. (3)The winning group will get two apples on the tree.Step 4: PresentationWelcome to Happy Apartment, there are so many people here. What are they doing?1. Finish 1a.2. Listening practice 1b.3. “Yes or no” sentences. Is she doing her homework? Yes, she is.Is Bill reading a book ? No ,he ist. Hes eating dinner.4. Show some pictures, let students guess. T: What is he doing? S: Is he ? S: Is he ?Step 5 Work on 2a-2c How about Steve and Jack, what are they doing? Lets finish 2a and 2b.1. Listening and practice 2a,then check answers together.2. Finish 2b.3. Check the answers. Step 6 ExercisesLook at some pictures about Lixues family and finish the conversation.Step 7 Report T: Give a report according to what we have learnt today.
