Unit 6 An old man tried to moved the mountains.Section A (1a-2c) . Teaching aims: 1. Knowledge:(1) learn some new words and expressions:shoot, once upon a time, stone, weak, god, remind, the rest of, as soon as, continue to do, sothat, keep on digging, be moved by, unless(2) sentence structures:-How does the story begin? -Once upon a time, there was a very old man. -What happened next? -As soon as the man finished talking, Yu Gong said that his family could continue to move the mountains after he died. -Why was Yu Gong trying to move the mountains? -Because they were so big that it took a long time to walk to the other side.-Where would they put all the earth and stone from the mountains?-They would put it into the sea because its big enough to hold everything.2. Play the listening material in 1b for the Ss and have them check the facts they hear and tell which story Anna and Wang Ming are talking about? If its necessary, play the listening material again.2. Step 5 SpeakingHave the Ss retell the story that they hear with the help of the questions. If its necessary, write down some expressions on the blackboard to help students retell it.(1) How does the story begin? (2) What happened next?(3) Where would they put all the earth and stone from the mountains?Step 6 PresentationTeach the new words and expressions in the next listening material; have the Ss learn the expressions by heart for several minutes.the rest of, work on, old and weak, as soon as, continue to do, sothat, keep on digging, be moved by, remind sb. that, unlessStep7 Listening (1) Play the listening material in 2a and have the Ss number the pictures(1-4) in order to tell the story. Then check the answers.
