(2) Students can have conversations with the target language.情感态度 Let the students realize how serious the pollutions are and be willing to protect them.教学重点How to get all the Ss involved in the group discussion and pair-work教学难点How to get all the Ss involved in the group discussion and pair-work教学用具The multi-media学习用具The multi-media教学课时教学过程设计教学内容及问题情境设计意图Step 1 Warming upHave Ss watch a video Earth Song by Michael Jackson, and then lead in the topic about pollution. Show the picture of the earth and tell students the earth is polluted now. For example: (1) The factories that burn coal pollute the air with a lot of black smoke.(2) Factories put waste into the river.(3) People should throw away litter in the bin.(4)There are more cars on the road.The T may wish to ask Ss to complete 1a as a class,then have Ss work in pairs to think of more words to add to the lists for each column.Step 2 Listening(1b)The T may wish to have Ss work in pairs first to predict tha answers to the activity, before the recording is played. Ss can write the predicted answers on a separate piece of paper. Elicit some answers from Ss and write them on the board. Then play the recording for Ss to fill in the gaps and review answers as a class.Step 3 PracticeGive Ss guided practice in using the target language to talk about pollution and environmental protection. Before conducting this activity, the T may wish to review these structures with Ss:1. used to : to show that an action happened regularly in the past but does not happen anymore.e.g. My family used to live in the countryside , but now we live in the city. I did not use to like muffins . Now I love it!2. Should + infinitive (without to): to show that an action is considered right or sensible.e.g. Everyone should play a part in cleaning up the river. Step 4 listening (2a、2b) Give Ss practice in listening for specific information. The T may want to focus on some words used to talk about the things that are thrown away.1. rubbish (British English) things that people throw away2. trash / garbage ( American English) things that people throw away3. waste rubbish and unwanted material left behind after we have used something , e.g. industrial waste4. litter things that people have thrown away and left on the ground in public places5. refuse ( noun; pronounced differently from the verb) a more formal word for “rubbish” Step 5 Role-playGive Ss practice in using the target language in conversations.Providing an example For weaker classes, the T may want to provide some guidandce for the Ss by demonstrating first how the conversation can flow between Jason Susan. Together with a S more proficient in English, the T can role-play the conversation before asking Ss to try it on their own their partners.Extending the activity The T may wish to invite two volunteers to role-play the given conversation, then ask Ss to dientify the ways of solving the environmental problems mentioned in the conversation, without referring to their textbooks. The T can ask Ss to write a short paragraph to summarize the problems and the suggested solutions.Step 6 DiscussionAsk students what we should do to save the earth. Help students answer, turn off thelights when y
