Mom knows best Analysis:This is the second period of unit 7 in the book of Grade9. Pre-reading Activities Step1.Warming up Greet the students. Show a video and make students talk freely about the video. Q: What did you see in the video? (Purpose: To arouse students interest and students will get some background knowledge about what they are going to learn in this period.) Step2. Prediction Ask students to look at the title and the picture of the text,and predict what the passage is about and what the title means. Thenplay the tape recording about this poem for students. (Purpose: Students can practice the reading strategy of prediction without reading the whole passage, then listening can help students to feel the emotion behind the poem.) 2. While-reading Activities Step1.Read and match Ask students to look through the passage to match three parts with general ideas.Part 1 Understanding (an adult)Part 2 Moms love (a baby)Part 3 Kids misunderstanding (a teen) (Purpose: By dividing the poem into 3 parts, students can practice the ability to read for main ideas and get the structure of this poem.)Step2. Read and fill in the blanks Read part 1 carefully and complete the chart.
