Enable Ss to know some words and expressions.2. Develop reading and speaking skills.3. To let Ss talk about their childhood.教学过程Teaching procedures:Step 1 RevisionCheck the answers of the grammar exercises on page 79-80, in order to review the past participle form of the verbs and past simple tense.Step 2 VocabularyPurpose: To know some places and activities.1. Individual Work. Explain the following places to Ss. circuscinema / theatreswimming poolseasidesports stadium2. Pair Work. Ask Ss to match the Activities with the places.Suggested answers:Open.3. Ask them to say something about the places and activities if theyve been there before.Step 3 Reading and Speaking1. Group Work. Divide the class into 5 groups. Then ask them to read their own paragraph. Try to retell what they have read. The following table will help them a lot.whowhenwherewhat howwhy (Call back the answers after two minutes.)2. Group Work. Ask Ss to read what they have filled in just now. And then ask them a question: (1) Why does the interviewer use these expressions? Is it possible for her to do the interview without them? (2) What do Mary Lennons expressions tell you?Suggested answers:(1) It is not necessary for the interviewer to use the expressions, but using them is a friendly way of interviewing.(2) a2. Ask Ss to finish Activity 2 on page 28 and check the answers together.Step 3 Pronunciation Word stress in sentencesPurpose: Enable Ss to know how to read the stressed word in sentences.1. Individual Work. Pre-pronunciation: Ask Ss to read some sentences. On December31, 2002, Premier Zhu Rongji and the German chancellor attended the opening ceremony of the train service. On November 12, 2003, the Maglev reached a speed of 501 kilometres per hour on the track between Longyang Station and Pudong, a new world record speed for a train. (From these two sentences, we know it is impossible to read a long sentence without any pause or stressed word. It is difficult to understand what you say if you read it word by word without any interval. So we should read the sentences phrase by phrase and make some stressed words. But which word should be stressed in a sentence? Generally speaking, nouns, verbs and adjectives are usually stressed in sentences, but pronouns, articles and prepositions are not stressed in a sentence.)2. Pair Work. Ask them to read the above sentences again. Do pay more attention to the stressed words.Suggested a
