Plan Presentation Unit 3 I m more outgoing than my sister Section A 2a 仙桃二中仙桃二中 饶瑜饶瑜 Good morning everyone I m Rao Yu from Xiantao No 2 Middle School I m very glad to have a chance to talk about my teaching ideas I ll try my best not to let you down As a teacher if we want to have an excellent class we should take these parts into consideration Teaching material learning condition teaching objective language focus anticipated difficulties and teaching procedures Today I will divide them into analysis statement and description Now let me talk about my teaching plan of Unit 3 Section A 2a Book 8A Go for it First I d like to analyze the teaching material and learning condition Part 1 The analysis of teaching material and students The topic of this unit is about personal traits The main task for students is to compare people with comparatives which is related to their daily life This part is to provide guided listening practice with the target language Ss can know the comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs through listening y students are from Grade 8 they have learnt English for over one year They have strong interest in English but they are in different levels and they have limited vocabulary and language skills I ll try my best to let every student in my class have a chance to communicate in English Part 2 The statement of teaching objectives According to The New English Course Standard not only should we teach English but also guide the students how to learn English Students must grasp the skills of listening speaking reading and writing The goal of our textbook is to make language learning motivating and successful through a step by step progression that builds confidence and leads to open ended activities So I design the teaching objects as the following 1 Language knowledge The students will be able to talk about personal traits by using the following words more hard working more outgoing funnier friendlier lazier earlier smarter faster higher harder 2 Language skills The students will learn to talk about how to use their own words to describe different people 3 Emotion aims It can develop students confidence and let them keep positive attitude to life 4 Learning strategy Learn by doing learn by using They ll know how to communicate with others and form good learning habits 5 Cultural awareness The students will have the right attitude towards friendship 6 Language focus The students will be able to use the following language focus to talk about personal traits and compare people I m more outgoing than Tara I m friendlier and funnier He can run faster and jump higher than me 7 Anticipated difficulties Students may find it hard to use different ways to express Comparative Degrees It is also difficult to catch the key words in listening I will use the following ways to solve them a Provide step by step language support and clear models for my students to follow b Stop at a proper point and give them enough time to finish it 8 Teaching methods and teaching aids I ll use the Cooperating Teaching Method Discussion Teaching Method and Communicative Teaching Method with the help of PPT documents Part 3 The description of teaching procedures Now let me talk about the teaching procedures I think it is the most important part in my class I ll design three steps as following Step1 Pre listening My students have learnt the comparatives with er ier or more of some adjectives and adverbs In this part they will learn more comparatives Firstly I will have a dictation my students will write some adjectives and adverbs including the words in the box in 2a I will divide the words into two groups the first group contains some adjectives as following smart funny friendly lazy outgoing and hard working And the second group contains the following adverbs run fast jump high work hard and get up early In this way the students will understand which words describe what people are like and which words describe what people can do At the same time such words may be new to the students like hard working and outgoing I will pay more attention to those who have difficulties in the word spelling They may need help in meaning pronunciation and spelling With my help my students will be familiar with the key words in the listening materials so that they have a better understanding about listening difficulties Secondly the students open the textbooks and check if what they have written down are correct then the whole class read the words aloud I will guide the students to correct the pronunciation and explain some of the difficult points if necessary It can help the students consolidate what they have learnt and develop their speaking ability Thirdly predict the comparative forms of the adjectives and adverbs in advance Get the students to make a prediction in front of the class In this way I will lead to the listening material Step 2 While listening Students are asked to listen to the conversation in 2a Then check what they predicted just now Next read the answers to correct the words pronunciations This activity is to make the students catch the key words At the same time let the students have a chance to practice their listening skills Step 3 Post listening 1 Students are required to discuss how to add er ier or more and summarize the rules of comparatives I use Discussion Teaching Method to develop students abilities of communication and cooperation If the students can finish the task well they will master the target language 2 Flashcard game I ll divide the Ss into pairs One of the students is given cards with adjectives and adverbs the other one with er ier or more The first student holds up one card and the other responds by holding up the one with er ier or more Students may take turns to play this game They can focus on their learning process and progress They can also use the target language to evaluate their work Look at the blackboard design different kinds of activities to arouse students interest in learning English I m just an organizer to help my students how to learn English more effectively Ss will be the real communicator in
