Knowledge objects: 1) Learn the new words and expressions for different chores, like do the dishes, sweep the floor, take out the trash and so on.2) Learn to make polite requests using Could you please ?2. Ability objects:1) Learn the new words and expressions by watching videos, doing games and discussing.2) Learn to make polite requests through listening and speaking.3) Improve speaking and listening skills.3. Encourage students to help their parents do chores.Teaching important points:1. Learn key words and expressions.2. Learn to make polite requests using Could you please ?Teaching difficult points:The new words and expressions for different chores.Teaching Procedures:Step I. Warming up1. Lets enjoy a video. Play the video about household chores and let students enjoy it.2. After it, ask students: Can you guess the meaning of “chores”? Then give the definition of “chores”: a job you do at home.Step II. Lead in1. Ask students to watch the video again and list the chores in the video.2. list the chores in the video, show the pictures in the meanwhile. Chores in the video: do the dishes, do the laundry, make the bed= make ones bed, sweep the floor, mop the floor, take out the trash/ rubbish.Step III. Presentation 1. Watch the video about the new words in this period and ask students to read them at the same time. 2. Lets learn more chores: fold your clothes, clean the living room. 3. Ask students to read and translate these phrases: do the dishes, do the laundry, make the bed= make ones bed, sweep the floor, mop the floor, take out the trash/ rubbish, fold your clothes, clean the living room.4. Guessing game. Do a guessing game together with students. First, show pictures with covers on them and ask students what the person is doing in the pictures. Then announce the results.Step IV. Discussing(1a)1. Show some chores and ask students: Do you do these chores at home? Discuss with your partner.2. Show an example conversation for the students.3. Ask several pairs to show their conversations.Step V. Listening1. Pre-listening: ask students to look at the picture on page 17 and read the dialogue together. Then let students guess what chores they will do.2. Listening: 1) 1b. Play the recording the first time. Ask students to listen and check what kind of chores Mom and Peter do. Then check the answers together. 2) Play the recording a second time. Ask students to listen again and fill in the blanks. Then check the answers one by one. Peters grandma is coming over. Then ask several pairs to show their conversations.Step VII. PracticeAsk students to ill in the blanks.
