Revision1.Show students some pictures and ask them to describe what things happening in the pictures2. Show Ss pictures and ask them to talk about the weather in different places and what people are doing.Step2. Activity 2a1. Ask Ss first list as many words as they can to describe each picture. Then have them form sentences using those words.Eg: Its a warm and sunny day. She is sitting by the pool and drinking orange juice.Its cool and cloudy. They are climbing the mountains.Its raining. She is writing a letter in her home.2. Ask Ss to talk about the pictures.A: Hows the weather?B: Its .A: What are the people doing?B: He/ She is Step3. Activity2b1. About writing postcards Before 2b, have Ss review the content of the postcards. Discuss the structure of the text and notable items such as:The salutation , DearThe sign-off, See you soon.The informal style of writing, Hows it going on?Have Ss talk about what kind of things people usually write in postcards. Note that they usually comment on the weather and activities that they have been doing. Note that Daves postcard is unusual because, unlike in a letter, a postcard doesnt ask questions as the writer is not really expecting a reply to a postcard.2. Fast Reading Read the postcards in 2b and math each postcard with the correct picture in 2a. Ss read the postcards quickly and match the postcard the correct picture. Then check the answers. 3. Careful reading: Read the first postcard again and find the answers to these questions. Where is Su Lin now? What is Su Lin studying here? Is she visiting some of his old friends there? Whats she doing right now? Hows the weather there?Read the second postcard again and find the answers to these questions. Where is Dave now? What are Dave and his family doing there? Are they having a good time? Hows the weather there? Hows the weather in Janes country?Ss read the postcards and try to find the answers to the questions.Then check the answers with the class. 1.
