Listen to a song Rain Rain, Go away, ask students a question “ How is the weather in the song?”, Lead students answer “Its rainy.” Step 2 Revision Review the past tense, show some verbs on the screen, ask two students to write the past tense of them. The other students write the answers on the paper. Then check the answers. Step 3 Presention Learn the new words “rainstorm” by showing the pictures. Show some pictures, and ask students “Where were the people when the rainstorm came?”,and lead students to answer the places. Show some pictures, and ask students “What were the people doing when the rainstorm came?”, teach the new tense. Step 4 Activity 1a Play the video about rainstorm and talk about it with students. Show the pictures on page 33 and talk about it with students. Step 5 Listening practice Have students read the phrases in 1b and the question the TV reporter asked aloud. Write the questions on the blackboard and ask students to listen to the tape and circle the correct responses in the conversation. Check the answer. Step 6 Practice Let students work in pairs. One is TV reporter, and the other one answer the questions. Call several pairs to act out their conversation in class. Step 7 Expansion and extension Show more pictures, and do more exercise. Step 8 Summary Guide students to summarize the language points they learned in this class. Step 9 Homework Recite the new words.
