Section A. 2d3cTeaching background: This is the first lesson of students.Though they have learnt Starter units. This unit is still difficult for them. So teacher should use simple language and gestures to help Ss understand.Teaching Objectives:After this class, Ss will be able to ask and give others names by using the following sentences:Whats his name? His name is Whats her name? Her name isAfter this class, Ss will be able to identity people with the following structure:Are you .? Is he.? Is she.? Teaching points: Key vocabulary:his, her, he, she, Key structures: Whats his name? His name is Whats her name? Her name isTeaching procedures:Step One Lead in1.The teacher plays a video,and the Ss listen and sing with it.2.The teacher introduce herself and greet the Ss by asking their names. Then leads to the topic picture of 2d by asking one tudent: “Are you Linda? Oh you are not Linda.She is Linda! ”(turn to the picture) Step Two Presentation1. Ask the students to look at the picture in 2d and make Q&A: Is she Linda? Is she Helen? Is he Jack? Is he Mike?1. Ss listen to tape and try to answer the two questions:How many names can you hear?Who are they?3. Ss read the conversation together. And then practice the conversation in pairs. The teacher can make an example for Ss to practice in different voice.The teacher invites some Ss to share their conversations, and gives marks to them.Step Three practice1. T gives more pictures of some popular stars to have students practice the sentences:Whats his name?His names Deng Chao./ He is Deng Chao./ Deng Chao.Whats her name?Her names Angelababy./ She is Angelababy. /Angelababy.Then the teacher helps Students understand that He and His are for boys or men; She and Her are for girls or women.2.T shows the sentences on ppt and stress the first letter should be BIG and TAll. Ss try to find more forms like What is = Whats. The teacher shows the words on PPT:I am= She is= He is= name is= is not= Have Ss finish the task on their own and check the answers.Step Four Grammar Focus 1. Ss read the sentences in Grammar Focus together.2. Ss pairwork the sentences in Grammar Focus.One asks, the other answers.Step Five A game.1. The teacher invites seven students to play a game. The seven students will have a paper each other. On the papers are the words which can make up a sentence in Grammar Focus.Whats your name? Im Cindy.TThen the other students will put the words into one sentence. When the sentence is done, Ss will read it three times.2. Ss finish the rest sentences in 3A. Then the whoe class read the sentences together to check the answers. Step six. Production.1. The teacher explains that Ss should go around the classroom. Ask for others names and make friends with them by using the sentences they learnt in this class.2. Ss come back to their seat and write something down about their friends name.My names . I have .friends. He is . She is . His names . Her names .The teacher should remind Ss to use their hands to point out their friends and then say out his or her name.3.
