SUIS HQ 2016 Grade 5 ExhibitionOur topic: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCEWe worked on artificial intelligence fro our topic in the 2016.5.26-27 exhibition.Group members: Adela Chloe Megan and JayTheme: How the World WorksCentral idea: The development of artificial intelligence should be responsibly controlled.Lines of inquiry:- An inquiry into what is artificial intelligence(Concept of Form)- An inquiry into how we can control artificial intelligence(Concept of Responsibility)- An inquiry into if people can be threatened by artificial intelligence(Concept of Causation)This is what we think:Artificial intelligence could be a very scary thing.“Success in creating AI would be the biggest event in human history. Unfortunately, it might also be the last, unless we learn how to avoid the risks”-Stephen HawkingThe famous scientist Stephen Hawking said this. Some Information we collected:What is AI?DEFENITION:Artificial: Not natural or realIntelligence: The ability to learn or to make decisionsAI is an area of computer science that emphasizes the creation of intelligent machines that works and reacts like humans.(theyre really just machines that think by themselves)What is the Turing Test?In 1950, famous mathematician Alan M. Turing devised a method of testing a computers intelligence. A person is kept inside a closed cell and asked to speak to a hidden human being and a computer. The person, who is also called the interrogator (person who questions), does not have any clue about who is the human being and who the machine. His task is to find out which of the two candidates is the computer, and which is the human by asking them questions. If the interrogator is unable to decide within a certain time, the machine is considered intelligent. However, there has been no machine till date which has been able to pass the Turings test. This remains one of the biggest challenges of modern day computing. When was AI first developed? The concept of a “thinking machine” began as early as 2500BCwhen Egyptians and Greeks were here on the world. The name of “artificial intelligence” was first announced at the Dartmouth conference.Who invented artificial intelligence?John McCarthy, a computer scientist. He was the first person to announce the word “artificial intelligence” in the 1956 Dartmouth conference. The first project that have to do with artificial intelligence was Alan Turings “Turing test”.What is a robot? In 1967, two Japanese scientists, Mori Masahiro and Aida Syuhei, made a representative definition of a robot: “Robot is a kind of flexible machine with t
