,.Lord of the Flies The story was in the background of a distant future. On account of the crash of the airplane, a group of boys were forced to stay and live on an uninhabited island. They started to take risks on this island without their parents. These children could live in harmony with each other at first. But later,this situation was broken by the appearance of thebeast. Children were divided into two groups. For far away from the human civilization,the evil of human nature was released. They became so cruel and violent that they savagely killed each other. Finally, although they were rescued,most of things on this island were destroyed. The whole island was burned in big fire. In my perspective,the thing that Simon was forced to die is not out of my expectations. The death of Simon is necessary.First,The setting of this story isnt good for Simon to live. On account of the outbreak of the World War , a group of children were forced to leave their hometown. But none of them would expect that they would lose themselves on an uninhabited island. For one thing,it is not easy to maintain their nature after surviving from the war. For another thing, most of the children including Ralph gradually showed the inherent evil of human beings. Simon was the only one person who still kept a kind heart. He was able to realize that the beast was in peoples heart. However, it was difficult for him to let others understand him. So,he had no choice but to serve as a victim for peoples evil in this situation.Secondly, I want to talk about the character of Simon. Simon was really innocent ,faithful and conscientious. We can see this from details. Simon could climb up the tree to pick up some fruits for small children in spite of he having epilepsy. He was able to make expectations for the future. He is something of peoples prophet. He is also brave to find the truth of “beast” on his own. Having found the beast was the corpse of the pilot, he ran quickly and wanted to tell others this truth as soon as possible. But its a pity that he was served as the beast and killed by mistake. If he hadnt persisted in finding the truth, maybe he would be alive. Whats more? The circumstance the children lived in also affected them a lot. Ralph is so handsome and kind. Although he represents civilization and democracy, he is not innocent at heart. His main wish is to be rescued and return to the original society. But then, He changed a lot. He even took part in an activity to kill Simon. His goodness is based on social system. As for Jack, he is brutal and violent. He represents the evil political power. After hunting again and again,he had become a violent man from the person who drew back as soon as he saw blood. He took advantage of peoples desire for food and the fear for beast to take hegemony from Ralph. Finally, he destroyed democracy and became arbitrary and despotic. In addition, there was a group of children who liked to follow others rather than think on their own. And, One little child even forgot his name during this period time. So,how did Simon stand in such a difficult situation?These children united for the common goal at the beginning. But,the conch was broken,the fire died out and the spectacles were broken too at the end of the story.
