Get one student to report news.Step 2 Revision and Lead in. T: Good news or bad news? Yeah, we can hear lots of news every day. Some are good ,and others arebad. What other bad news do you know recently?.Yes, Thats it! Lets watch the news. (Watch the news)T: The news was reported at 9:00 on March 8th, 2014. What were you doing when you heard the news? (TS)T: Do you know an other bad news recently in China?(Get the students fill in the blanks with the new phrases learnt just now)Step 3 PresentationT: These events have meaning to Chinese people. So we remember them well. People often remember what they were doing when they heard the news of important event in history. Heres a passage. Read the title and pictures in the passage. What do you think the passage is about?1.Read the title and the pictures. Teaching reading skill.T: Do you know anything about Martin Luther King? Say something about him.Step 4 Reading2.Fast reading. Work on 2b. Scan the passage, divide the passage into two parts.Skim Part 1 and fill in the chart. Teach reading skill.Sometimes the first sentence of the paragraphcan help you to understand the passage well.Skim Part 2 and fill in the chart.3. Careful reading.Task 1: Read the passage again.
