Emotional aims: Students should know that how to solve their problems if they have problems. Teaching important points:This is a reading period so the focus is to cultivate the students reading skills. The many activities are designed to help Ss to train their reading skills, such as skimming, scanning and summarizing.It is also important for the Ss to master the new words and phrases. Teaching difficult points:As the Ss have a limited vocabulary, so they may have some difficulties in understanding the passage. So the teacher will help them learn the new words and phrases. The teacher helps to cultivate the students reading skills and train their reading skills, such as skimming, scanning and summarizing. Teaching methods:Three-stage model: Based on the understanding of reading as an interactive process, teaching reading in the classroom is divided into three stages in which the top-down and bottom-up techniques integrated to develop the students language efficiency in general and reading strategies. The three stages are pre-reading, while-reading and post-reading. Teaching aids;Multimedia devices and PPT documents: In order to help Ss to fully understand the whole passage, I adopt Multimedia devices and PPT documents to bring the real-life situation into the classroom. Teaching proceduresStep1. Lead-in 1. Greetings 2. Free-talking Ask students some questions about problems and then lead in the reading part about how to solve problems.Step2. Pre-reading Activity1. Words competition Have a competition about the words between boys and girls. Activity2. Words consolidation Match the words or phrases with its explanations.Step3. While-reading Activity1. Skimming Ss skim the whole passage and find out the main idea of the passage.Activity2. Scanning 1. Ss scan the passage and find out the main idea of each paragraph.2. Ss can summarize where they can find the main idea of each paragraph. Activity3. Careful reading (15min)T designs various kinds of activities and Ss do the activities to fully understand the passage.Para.1 1. T: Please read Para.1 carefully and answer the questions.Q1: What are teenagers problems and worries?Q2: What is the worst thing to do if you have a problem?Q3: Who is Laura Mills?Q4: What does Laura think of the problems and worries?Q5: 5.What is Lauras idea about solving problems?2. Ss summarize this passage according to the questions and answers.Para.21. T: Please read Para.2 carefully and then answer the questions.Q1: What is Lauras problem?Q2: At first, did she tell her parents about the problem? If not, why? Q3: At first, how did she feel ? Ask Ss to discuss it in groups then give a report. Aims:These two activities are to develop the Ss comprehensive language competence. The group work serves to be an output of the reading and an evaluation of their learning.Step5.Emotional educationRemember: If we have problems, we should never run away from them.We should always try to solve them. We should always look for help. Please dont forget that our parents and teachers have more experience than us, and are always there to help us.Step6.
