Unit 9 Do you want to go to a movie?Name: Liu YuanfuSchool: Luo Run Middle School in Gaoxian CityTeaching material analysis.This lesson is the first period of unit 9 in Book 1”Go for it! The title in this unit is “Do you want to go to a movie?”. And the topic of this unit is about movies. The functions are talking about movies they likes or dislikes. We will learn some new words about movies and description words. To learn words is very important in Grade 7. The students are interested in movies, because movies are interesting for them. So its easy to learn. Section A 1a introduces key vocabulary, using some pictures to talk about movies and give students practicing in under- standing the target language in speaking and listening.Teaching aims:To enable the students to remember and use the new words. Make sure the students can express their likes or dislikes.Key-points: To help the students remember the new words and express their likes or dislikes about moviesDifficult points: To help the students understand and use the description words correctly, know the differences between them. Knowledge goals: 1.Vocabularies : go to a movie, action movie, comedy, documentary, thriller 2. Sentences : Do you want to go a movie? Yes, I do. I want to see a comedy. Does he/she want to go to a movie? Yes, he/she does./No, he/she doesnt.Ability goals:1.Be able to talk about and describe movies in English. Then to train these abilities of listening , speaking , reading and studying each other ,.2.Talk about their likes or dislikes.Emotion goals: Let the students talk about different movies . They should learn lots of knowledge. Enable students to know the great culture of our country.Language goals:To talk about movies and their likes and dislikes by listening and speaking.Teaching MethodsInteractive teachingLearning requires communication and interaction. It is a good way for students to learn language2.To use the Powerpoint and recorder.3.To divide the students into two groups and use task- based to study.4.To practice key words with some activities.5.To encourage them all the time in class.Task-based language teachingEveryone wants to learn knowledge. The teacher should give them many kinds of activities to let the students learn more by acting, imitating and practicing. Such as,games, pair work ,challenges, and group work. Learning methods1. Interesting learning The students in Junior 1 like to learn by watching with their own eyes and by doing, touching ,imitating, acting , practicing and challenging .And they like games, activities and challenges. So that they are interested in English.2.To let them pronounce and remember the new words by pictures.3.To do a few step-by-step practice activities to reinforce what they have learned. To study the target language with pair work.4. To show many direct pictures so that the students can understand and remember the words and expressions easily . Evaluation1.Evaluating the class activities Teacher should give each activity score, praise and encourage them too often, including individual and groups ,so that they are eager to take part in the activities and learn. 2. Evaluating their workHave all the other classmates give him a right evaluation in class. Teacher checks the work and encourages the students who do well.Teaching procedureStep 1: Showing(2 minutes)Show a movie, Let them watch it. This step is to train the ability of studentswatching. Step 2: Presentation ( 8 minutes)Use movie posters to teach some new words and some other words about movies not in this unit. Show the target languages, using the objects:Do you want to go a movie? Yes, I do. I want to see a comedy.Does he/she want to go a movie? Yes, he/she does. He/She wants to see a/anshow some pictures to practice grammar.Step3: Challenge 1 Memory games ( 5minutes)To practice the words of movies by 3.challenges. Lets talk the difference between the singular and plural of the movies. This step is to train the ability of the students memoryStep4: Reading and Listening ( 3 minutes)Read the new words of this unit 1a .Ill ask students to match the kinds of movies with the pictures. Let students to look at Page 53.Finish 1a and 1b. Play the tape and ask students to listen to 1b,circle the kinds movies they hear ,then check the answers. These steps are to train the ability of students listening.Step5:Practice ( 8 minutes) Students look at the pictures on the screen and pair work. This activity can improve the ability of communication. To learn some description words to express likes and dislikes.Step6:Pairwork ( 5 minutes)1. Point to the pictures and say: Do you want to go to a movie ?Yes, I do/No, I dont. I want to see an action movie.Does he/she want to go to a movie? Yes, he/she does. / No, he/she doesnt. He wants to see a comedy.2. Lead the Ss to practice the conversations above. Then make their own conversations.3. Practice the dialogue in the whole class. Act it out with their partnerThis activity can improve the ability of studentscommunication and memory. To learn some description words to express likes and dislikes. Step7: Challenge 2 ( 5 minutes)Lets run a train! Practice the target language. Use the words of movies to run a train .This step is to improve the ability of communication. After this,students can remember the new words. To practice description word by a challenge. students will take an active part in the game, and master the important sentences. S1:Do you want to go to a/an ?S2:Yes,I do./ No, I dont. Do you want to go to a/an ?S3:Yes,I do./ No, I dont. Do you want to go to a/an ?S4: S1: Does he want to go to a/an ? S2: Yes, he does. He wants to see a/an S3: Does she want to go to a/an ? S4: No, she doesnt. She wants to see a/an Step8: Summary ( 2 minutes)In this unit, we have learnt the vocabulary of the movies, described they likes or dislikes, practice the target language : Do you want to go to a/an ?
