They have known about volunteers, the old peoples home and welfare home. (T explains the usage of could ,help and hope. Let Ss make some sentences.)T: Whats the matter with the boy? What could yo do?S5: He is ill and I could cheer him up.T: What is the man doing?S6: He is giving out food to help the poor.T: What other ways we could do to help people?(Ask Ss to discuss with their partner. Then use the key phrases to fill in the blanks on the blackboard.)T: Please write down these sentences on your books.a. You could help the passengers with their luggage.b. You could volunteer to learn children.c. You could help the old cross the street.Step3 listening (1a)T reads the four sentences and learn some phrases.Listen and number the ways the boy and the girl could help others. Keys: 3,2,4,1(Ss read the four sentences after T. Turn to page 97 and read the four conversations .)Step4 Pair-workLets read the four conversations and practice makingconversations.(Give Ss 3minutes to practice making conversations.
