Keeping a Grateful HeartDear teachers and fellow students,It is my great honor to stand here and to give you a speech. I am Zhangyuyi from international class. Today my topic is keeping a Grateful Heart. Composing a touching score, trees express their gratefulness by circling around the spacious earth. Picturing a moving image, Clouds showed their grateful hearts by floating on the azure sky.Because of being thankful, we can live in the colorful world, get a sincere friendship, and recognize the essence of life. We have been instructed to keep a grateful heart since we were young. However, as we grow up, we are getting oblivious and forget what gratefulness means. We are getting used to occupy and to indulge, however, we forget to hold our grateful hearts to appreciate those who gave us lives, warmed us up, and loved us more than themselves. Once I heard a tale which moved me deeply. A farmer rescued a badly-hurt snake and took care of it. They stayed with each other for a long time and gradually the snake learned how to be grateful. One day, a fire occurred, and the snake saved the farmer without hesitation in order to requite the farmers love. However, the snake was engulfed by the fire. Even as snakes, they know they must be grateful. How could human beings forget it? This is another authentic story. A steamer that held hundreds of people submerged into the sea because of a fire, and most people lost their lives. Fortunately, there was a swimming expert in the passengers, who swam back and forth for more than ten times in order to save others which led to his own disability. However, he still felt shameful and shouted loudly, “have I tried my best?” This was a question he asked himself every day. After a few years, someone asked him what is the most unforgettable thing among his life; he answered with a sadly voice, “nobody thanked me even though I sacrificed my life to save them.” We should live with a thankful heart. Nevertheless, most people always accept others help but do not feel grateful. We are easy to forget and to ignore people who once helped us when we were in need. Furthermore, people who are not modest also do not have a thankful heart. Because of being selfish, they do not care those who help them.We should live with a grateful heart. Be grateful to the sun because it gives us warmness; be grateful to rivers for they give us water; be grateful to the earth since it gives us space; be grateful to our parents because they bring us here; be grateful to kinship, friendship, love and so on.We should live with a thankful heart. If you feel happy, it is the reward from life. If you feel angry, it is a chance to develop your patience. If you are sad, dont worry; it is just a test of God. If we can be grateful no matter what happens, nothing can destroy our lives.”As Wang Fu says, “life is created by thankful hearts which are forested by lives.” My friends, lets start right now. Putting thankfulness into our hearts, “thank you” around our mouths, and keeping those conscienceless behaviors away from us, and our world will be brighter. My fr
